I have no marketing expertise, but what I'm noticing about kids now that I have one, is that the hottest items are usually marketed to them using many venues. For example a theme that runs through products: new movie, accompanying CD soundtrack, posters, calendars ..., McDonald's happy meal toys, a clothing line geared toward the fashions in the movie, TVs, VCRs whose outer shell features the movie characters, accompanying brand names for an endless number of products, and on and on it goes. Anything associated with that character, or movie, or musician instantly becomes hot. Hope that helps.

I think people in this age group is adventurous. They always want to ty something new. So, if you are thinking of launching of product for these age group it is difficult to thin what product they will love/buy eventhough there are other new entrant products.
Also, i think this group of person dont have product loyalty. they try what is something new in the market.

Fickleness, fadishness.
Their tastes change rapidly, partly in response to changing responsibilities as they get older. Anything over two years old (book, movie, clothing style, toy) is too old for most teens to consider.
Marketing to them can be a hit or miss proposition.
