My wife is close to 200 and she wasn't like this before the kids. To cut the kindness, let's be realistic and know that she does not have to stay this way. I'm going to start her in a good physical fitness program and I need suggestions for diets that can really make her loose all the weight along with the excersice.
Because of the excercise and diet, there's no reason why she should not lose weight in six months.

Alex, you need to change your attitude or she's going to poison your food. You're not the boss.

Any diet "works" if you stick with it. It depends on what she likes and what she would stick with long term.

She might prefer a slow weight loss diet like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig. Count on 1-2 lbs a week.

She might prefer a fast weight loss diet like Kimkins which is is low calorie low carb. Count on 4+ lbs a week. Many members lose 1 lb per day. Check the Success Stories.

Maybe you could babysit and she could join a gym or exercise activity (yoga, tennis) that would give her a break and burn calories.

Be supportive. It's hard work being a mom and running a house.

She might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

Don't diet just have her eat healthy follow the food pyramid and excercise daily as recommended www.mypyramid.gov. Eat lots of fruit veggies and drink alot of water. Weird diets and pills don't work and aren't healthy for her! It is also hard to find time to excercise with kids so support her by everyone eating healthy. Switch to whole grains and no soda or other junk food and you should be good GOOD LUCK

There is a diet that is done only with a doctor's approval that consists in eating only protein: mostly meat. However it can be dangerous without a doctor's supervision.
