RE:
Do component cables carry sound?
And i saw different numbers on the package being referenced, i.e. 600, 800, 1000, what's that all about?

The cables can carry sound if they are plugged into the right output, if that is what you are asking. Normally they are used to carry a video signal from a DVD, or Cable box to the component input on the back of your TV but if you have an extra set lying around and dont have any audio cables they will pass sound if you put them in the Red and white AUDIO outputs. I would recommend just getting real audio cables but its up to you

Component video cables are sound only. You'll need a set of Analog cables if you have a 2 channel system, or a digital cable if you have a surround system in order to listen to the sound.
As for the numbers on the package, chances are they are referencing the cable's capability to pass the different video resolution standards (480i, 480P, 1080I, 720P). As a rule, component video will work with every resolution out there with the exception of 1080P (it will work with 1080i). This is not so much the limitations of the cable, but the fact video standards call for 1080P to pass only thru HDMI connections.
The other possibility is that you are looking at a Monster Video cable and they may be referencing their different models (200, 300, 400, etc.). There are cables available for less that will deliver equal or better performance.

Component video cables carry only the video signal. I don't know what the numbers mean.

If your talking about the RED/BLUE/GREEN wires no they do not carry sound. They are strictly for higher end picture display. You will need seperate audio cable if you go this route. I dont know what the numbers mean either.

No component cable is strictly video.
The 600, 800, 1000 you saw probably refers to lines of resolution. the more resolution or lines the sharper or cleaner picture you get.
