gift card to Mcdonalds - or actually bring them something fresh and hot. When I was a kid my parents would take people out to dinner off of the streets, or bring them home for Christmas, can't do that anymore......... Beware of people with clean shaven faces holding signs that say they are stranded/homeless/ect.
I give money to people and/or places I know help the homeless, such at Joyce Meyer Ministries

Yes,I give money to Homeless People. I have on occasion bought Clothes,Food, and Beverages for Homeless People. I have been Homeless a few times in my life. Therefore, I know first hand about Homelessness.
Anything you can give to A Homeless Person is a Blessing especially Money.Because, after The Homeless Organizations Kitchens close, with money that Homeless Person can buy something to eat. Homeless Kitchens are only open certain Hours, after that The Homeless must fend for Themselves. Therefore Money is perfect.

I usually do not give money to homeless people. I have given food to homeless people, but I don't do that very often either. There are lots of jobs that these people can get if they put an effort into it. I think that it is lazy and sad that they sit there and just ask people for money. While not all cases are this, I believe that most are. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I have seen too many shows about people who do this and walk around the corner and get into their SUV at the end of the day.

Do I give money to the Homeless, most Defintely for the reason Iam homeless myself with my children for the last 2 years I can not get housing going from pillow to post and shelters with my children because of my credit. I have been struggling with this for a very long time depressed because My children does not a home that they can call home for sometime now. Living with others is okay but you will always want your own, you have to deal with there rules and have certain guidelines, It's very hard when you actually live with someone rather than your own for the reason I PAY THE BILLS HERE! and thats all you will hear from some out there that is willing to help you. I have been going through this for sometime and it is a veryh ard ship for me just to look at my children and see that me and my kids 18,14,13 and a mother 40 years old sleeping on the floor. What will I do for my children to have a home they can call there own.SO WHEN IT COMES TO HELPING THE HOMELESS I AM ALL FOR IT AND I WILL GIVE MY LAST AND THE SHIRT OFF MY BACK.

I do give money to homeless people. I can't say what they do with the money for the simple fact you are not around a homeless person every day of the hour, but I just feel good knowing that I had the money to give to someone in need.

No! I was taken advantage of by a homeless person once in Maryland--This man was on the same corner everyday. One day a local TV station followed him, found out he was not homeless. He refused to open the door for the TV reporter. He did not return to that corner anymore. I think sometimes we are an enabler when we give money..many of the people can get a job. I would rather give to The Salvation Army or a soup kitchen.

NOT MONEY, AS I DON'T HAVE ANY.... I WILL GIVE ANYONE A HAND UP NOT A HAND OUT. I WILL FEED YOU IF YOU'RE HUNGRY, FIND YOU CLOTHING TO KEEP YOU WARM, SEARCH FOR ANY RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP YOU BECOME A PRODUCTIVE CITIZEN AGAIN. BEING AN EVACUEE FROM NEW ORLEANS AFTER KATRINA, A SENIOR CITIZEN AND DISABLED I KNOW WHAT THE FEAR OF HOMELESSNESS IS, WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE ON A LOAF OF BREAD AND A JAR OF PEANUT BUTTER FOR A WEEK. I DIDN'T STAND ON A CORNER WITH A CUP, I FOUND MY WAY WITH GOD'S MERCY AND LOVE. I WENT TO THE FREE LIBRARY AND USED THE COMPUTERS THERE FOUND THE RESOURCES I NEEDED AND AM FINALLY SEEING A LIGHT. GIVE A MAN A FISH AND HE'LL EAT FOR A DAY, TEACH A MAN TO FISH AND HE'LL EAT FOR A LIFETIME.
IT'S TAKEN ME MORE THAN A YEAR BUT I NOW HAVE MY OWN LITTLE SPACE, A JOB, AND I'M 60 SOMETHING AND FEMALE. NOT COLLECTING FROM ANY SOCIAL OR GOVERNMENT AGENCY AND RECEIVED ALMOST NO HELP FROM FEMA. NO MY FRIEND NOT MONEY BUT ENCOURAGEMENT, FAITH AND KNOWLEDGE ALL WORTH SO MUCH MORE TO THE PERSON WHO REALLY WANTS TO MOVE FORWARD.

I only give money to the charities that sponser homelessness, I don't ever give money to the actual people because around Detroit (where I live) you see a lot of scams of "homeless" people that actually have a nice car or a bike after they get the money. Or they use it for drugs.. so I never give anything directly to the homeless.

I do give money to people who are homeless on nearly a daily basis. I was once homeless and now I am semi-homeless. I can't afford to look at my condition. My focus is not where I am but where I'm going. I see people who are living outdoors, people who have no food, people walking barefooted. Eventhough my circumstance seems low, I can still give to my fellow man, because I am one paycheck away from being outdoors. It gives me a thrill to give to others less fortunate than I. Every year on top of me giving money to homeless people, I prepare dinner for the Women's Liberty Center here in Jacksonville. Still in my situation I manage to buy the food and cook it and serve it to the women.

I have given money to a homeless person before, but I find it much easier to just give them food - that way you know they are at least being helped (fed) with the money you gave them. No joke, I have seen someone begging for money, looking as they were homeless, then walk around the corner to their new shiny Mercedes. This is why I am leary on giving money.

No I do not give money to homeless people HOWEVER.. I do not have a problem with it. I just need my money and I would be on the streets too if I gave my money to those who just stand or sit there and ask me for it. I do know some people who do give money to homeless people and if you just give it to them and not wonder, ask or care what they do with it... it is easier. Even if they buy drugs or alcohol with it... if it is making them happy for that moment then that is that.
