One of my family's kittens, Ernie, has gone missing. She is about seven months old, and she has grey tabby markings. She has no tags or a collar or anything, and she hasn't had her shots or been fixed yet (Yeah I know, shame on us. We were going to get that done in the next week.) She has been missing for a few days now. She gets out sometimes, but she always comes back. This time, she hasn't come back. What can we do to try to find her, besides put up posters around town (we're doing that)?

it's not that we've been putting the shots off. we truly cannot afford to see a vet right now. however, we just recently found a place to get them fixed for $5 and a place to get their shots free, so as soon as Ernie is home we'll take them both (Bert and Ernie) to get it taken care of.

Later, when the whole family is up and dressed, we're going to go for a walk and see if we can find her.

make sure that you check all areas that the cat could have gotten into. any doors that were open that were recently closed?
such as closets, laundry baskets. basement. If your basement has an open celing make sure the kitten isn't hiding in any crawl spaces. Also contact your local animal shelter and give them the necessary details reguarding your kitten. Also one important question is Ask the local animal shelter if there has been any cats or kittens brought in in the past few days that the kitten has been missing. Also ask your neighbours, someone could have brought it in from the cold.
Once you are reunited with your kitten remember not to scold the kitten but praise the kitten for returning home.
Keep us posted !!!

It's best if you look around in the area she was last missing. Since she's not even one year old, she probably won't travel that far. Make sure you check around the house for any open doors, or cracks. Just do a routine check of the place, calling her name. One great way of making sure everyone knows to look out for her is putting her picture (if you have one) on a poster, describe what she looks like, and give a seperate phone line (if you have one) for tips on where she was seen. Or if someone has gotten her. Then hand them out to your local community; just simply place them in their mailboxes, and post one outside your door so your mailman knows too. You can also go out on a search of your local neighborhood, and see if you can spot her. Also, check the local kennels and pounds/shelters to see if they've had any sight of her, and post those posters up there too! And when she comes home, praise her for returning. Remember not to scold.
I hope you find her! Good luck!

Hi Veronica, Try your foot search in the early evening just as its getting dark. The birds, and usually all around noise level is lower and she may come to a familiar voice. Do the posters and check the shelters frequently. Once she is fixed she will stay closer to home. Good luck to you and Ernie too.

Wow!, 5$ a pop, that is great! Mabe your lost one will turn up soon, and you can the whole kitten caboodle worked on at one time. Have you tried to offer a reward? It may be in someone elses house by now. Maybe someone thought it was a stray. Good Luck

well, this is really sad i know. my cat does the same thing, she gets outside and always comes back. but one day she didn't come back. me and my friend were puting up posters and everything! and we couldn't find her. and my mom says she talked to the vet, and if u put some of her "stuff" from the litter box in a bag and hang it outside, then they will sniff it and come home, but back to my story, my cat didn't come home ever, and this was about 2 weeks now, and my neibhors were gone on vacation all this time, and about a month after they got back, they reported to us that our cat was dead in their garage. she had snuck in their garage and the neighors closed it when she was in it and left for their vacation.
so i hope that this story helps u, try to do what i said and maybe it will work.
good luck! i hope u find her!

Keep looking in the same area that she disappeared. Cats tend to not go very far. Look at night and call her when she can hear you. Go to you neighbors' houses individual and ask if she could have gotten locked in a garage or shed. Good luck.

Be sure to check the garage and attic, walk around with the box of cat food shaking it. It might entice them out of a hiding space if they are scared.

Well, kittens are alot of responsibility, and you can't bow off thier shots and "try" to get them done next week. Sounds like your kitten was sort of miserable, so try knocking on neighbors doors and ask them if they have seen her. Also try contacting the local pounds to see if they caught her. I am really sorry, and I wigh you the best of luck!

Have you tried walking the area calling for her? She might be too scared to come out, but she might call to you. Make sure to search the woods and up trees.
Good luck!
