I don't know if saliva can be tested for deficiencies but I do know hair can. When my daughter was about 2 she was a whiny miserable little girl. And it wasn't just terrible 2's. I had her hair tested and found she was high in sodium/potassium and low in calcium/magnesium. For about a month I would grind up the appropriate vitamins and minerals and feed them to her. She was a different child. She was calm and happy. I didn't continue more than a month since I needed to force her to take the spoonful of magic (I was tricky and quick so it wasn't too tramatic but she still didn't like it) but the effects lasted a good six months and I was able to adjust her diet to up the calcium. Call a local lab or pharmacist with your question. You may be able to send a sample of your saliva in the mail for testing.

You need a whole range of minerals and vitamins to stay healthy. These are supplied by eating a ballanced diet. Saliva does not reveal any dietary deficiencies.
