North Korea has an unstable leader. Whatever I would do to convince them would be in vain.
Iran has an unstable population that is ruled by unstable people with money. Whatever I would do to convince them would be in vain.
Realistically, the only way to FORCE, not convince, them to give up nuclear weapons is through global political action. Specifically placing pressure on these countries through allies in their regions.
Idealistically, we could destroy our own stock pile of nuclear weapons and hope they take this as a sign of good faith and do not continue to pursue them anymore. The problem is that if someone wants to attack you with a stick and you put your stick down, what do you think actually happens?
O.K. Now let me directly answer your question. I would tell other countries that their inability to safegaurd nuclear programs and the weapons they produce is an unacceptable liability that would not be tolerated.
I would set a deadline for these programs to be ended.
Once these deadlines were not met, I would order the men in charge of the weapons programs to be assassinated.
Convincing enough?

let me ask you this how long after Iran and Korea get their hands on nuclear weapons would having them not be good enough anymore and the would be put to use.
now let me ask you this how long has the U.S. been a nuclear power and when was the last time the U.S. used a nuclear weapon against one of its enemy's during wartime?
Those two Nations should not be allowed to have that kind of destructive capability for the same reason you don't leave a five year old unattended with a Bic and firecrackers. they would more then likely blow their hand off on a global scale.
if your problem lay in the do as i say not as i do part of your question. remember who the first target is on both north Korea and Iran's wish list of countries to annihilate when they aquire nuclear weapons that alone is reason enough to make sure they don't get their wish.

The United States has nuclear weapons as a remnent of a different time.
The reason the United States and Britian have them now is as a deterent.
Iran and North Korea are rogue nations with leaders who have no morals whatsoever. Both would use Nuclear weapons irresponsiblly and not as a worst case scenario

The effects of a nuclear weapon are known world wide. Let's say North Korea wants a bomb, I say fine! If they want a bomb then let them have one. BUT let them know that the first time they choose to USE IT will be their last. Because they will get fired upon themselves by the rest of the world. There may be some people left when the dust settles, but none of them will be North Koreans !!
It's as simple as this, If you and I both had a gun pointing at one another and both triggers were wired together so that if one fired they both fired, who would be the first to pull the trigger knowing that they will be killing themselves.
This is a Solomon like solution to a modern day issue.

The United States has enough nukes to turn the whole planet into toast 500+ times. If you where a country we didn't like, you might feel just a tiny bit intimidated. With that many nukes around, it could end up being more of a danger to us. We're sitting on enough explosives to make this continent disappear. So, you really couldn't justify anything with any real logic.

That is totally unrealistic!!!! Do you really think that you can TALK to these people and convince them to give up their nuclear weapons programs? Clinton and the peanut farmer made a deal that was SUPPOSED TO GET NORTH KOREA TO GIVE UP THEIR PROGRAM IN TRADE FOR TREASURE AND CONCESSIONS. DIDN'T WORK, DID IT? Do you think that the madman in Iran will give up their program short of us blowing them off the map? Get real and get ready to meet your maker (if you believe in one). It is just a matter of time until we have a massive world nuclear battle which will kill most of mankind what with the radiation and the destruction of food supples.

You SAY "You've got two options, first is the good one, you give up your nuclear program and we will help you become a better country economically. We will do everything in our power to pull you out of the 2nd or 3rd world status you are in and bring you into the 21st centry. Option 2 is not as pretty. You continue to try and develop your program and we embargo your country so that you can't trade with us and we crush your economy. Then we come in and blow up every major building and landmark you've got so that no one ever wants to come there again. You've got 5 minutes.

The U.S. does not sell or give nuclear weapons to other countries. North Korea and Iran will give them to people who use them on us. We will not know who used them against us. We will have no choice then, but to attack those two countries in our own defense.

I would say: Give up your nuclear weapons or prepare to become a territory of the US.
My justification is: We have had nuclear weapons for 60 years and have only used them ONCE, in a war that was declared upon us, in order to stop that war and save additional lives.
We have had ample opportunity and motivation since then in that 60 year period, and have restrained ourselves from using nuclear weapons.
We have noticed that the radical faction that controls your country wants to wipe out Israel, South Korea ( or wherever). Since you cannot control your murderous urges, you will have to hand over your weapons to us forthwith.
You have 24 hours.

Pure hypocrisy, double standards, a failing attempt to ensure dominance over other countries.
No-one can convince North Korea and Iran, because they don't believe bull. The simple truth is that the USA only attacks defenseless countries, If you wanna be safe, get some Nukes, quickly.
