It tells you on the box what kind of pain they`re for that`s how the tablets know where to go.

I think the pain killer stops the brain receiving pain signals, so effectively the pain is still there, it's just not being received by the brain and so can't be interpreted.

Not really sure though, just a thought....

Different pain killers work diffrent. Some pain killers chemically alters the way messages are sent to your brain. Basically they go through your bloodstream and change the chemical make-up of the nerves that are irratated. The nerves send messages to your brain through things called synapes, when the brain recieves the messeage it makes the irratated part of your body quit hurting.

Because all pain registers in the same place, your brain, that's the bit that the pain killers affect.

You have receptors all over your body that the substances in pain killers can connect with. Other drugs prevent the signals from getting back and forth from your brain.

That's funny! I used to think that, too. But as someone already stated, they work on the pain receptors in the brain so even thought the pain is still evident, your brain stops feeling it.

it doesn't really... though some pain medicine only affects certain parts of your body. It goes into your blood stream and travels all around your body. even if you don't have pain in your leg, it goes there. You don't notice it because you didn't have pain there anyway.
