THIS - IS - NOT - A - RELIGION - BOARD - EXCLUSIVELY - FOR - THE - RELIGIOUS.
Why must people be reminded of this fact every day??
Now LISTEN... this is a place in which question -PERTAINING- to religion may be asked. You don't have to adhere to a religion in order to ask a question ABOUT religion. GET IT??

>> But with so many real problems in the world. (Global warming) Why don't you allow people to follow their faith and get on with changing the 'real' world so many of you believe in?
Because I can change a person's mind - I can't change the planet's already screwed up climate.
>> Its easy to criticise them when they cannot immediately and evidently prove God's existence upon demand
Shouldn't that be the first clue that there's something wrong with the philosophy? It's "so easy" to criticize?

I am not Anti-religion and do not criticise them for their beliefs! I criticise the apparent Hypocracy of their behaviour that they use their Religion to justify. How can Christian Muslim and Jews fight when the God they believe in is the same one. (The God of Abraham)?
There are some religious people who like to debate (not argue) with unbelievers even if only because without them Who would they Convert?
As to Global warming and other problems we are all facing this together and religion fighting religion does not help the problems go away!
Where else can we state our opposing .views but on a dedicated board

Following a religion is more than simply 'putting guidance in their life through faith'. This is because all religions exist to promote, and promulgate, group-think. What this entails is more than just an individual making choices, it also becomes an individual making choices about the choices other individuals make, or are allowed to make. To say you are a Christian, or a Muslim, or a Hindu, etc, implies that you are making choices that promote your worldview. Whose 'god' are you trying to prove exists? Will that 'gods' existence interfere with the ability of others to live? This applies to all labels, religious or otherwise. If you identify yourself as a person of 'faith', then you are doing more than simply trying to live your life, you are trying to shape it. In doing so, you also shape the lives of those upon whom your actions have consequences. Imagine, for example, a belief that Global Warming is God's punishment. That ideology absolves the believer from attempting anything to arrest its progression, since one cannot go against the will of God. That belief, in turn, affects the lives of other believers, who also reiterate and reinforce the belief that it is God's Will, which in turn helps to magnify the situation, since anyone who does NOT belief Global Warming is God's Will has to work against not only the process itself, but the thought processes that help to promote it. The anti-relgious come to the Religion board because the Religion board places itself in the path.

Some of dont go directly come to this forum, but enter the answers site...which publish all new questions regardless of what forum they will inevitably sit in......religion and non religion have alot in common...its something you believe in....and questions like this are directed toward those that do not believe....in an almost passive agressive way...you are confronting non believers by asking other believeers why we behave the way we do. But I do agree, it is amazing how agressive some of the responses are....just further suggesting the power and inherant dangers of belief (trust without proof).

What a fascinating set of answers - so far! This is why I look at the Religion board - people's many and varied beliefs and behaviours are interesting.
If we were all to stick with people who believe similar things to ourselves, we wouldn't learn much about those who have different ways of thinking and intellectual challenge would be diminished. I have friends and family of many different religious faiths as well as pagans, atheists, agnostics, humanists...and so on. Great - we are all human.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

You're right - it is easy. We don't need some old book to tell us how best to live our lives. Why do you need a book to tell you how to be a good person? I personally don't care if you believe or not. I don't care what flavor of god you like best. I just want religious fruits and nuts to stay out of my government and not preach to me through laws designed to legislate my personal morality. We have as much right to be here as you do. There are two sides to every argument. As far as global warming, just because you and I won't be around when the planet bakes and the ice caps melt doesn't mean we shouldn't do all we can now so our great grandkids don't have to inherit our mess.

To truly grow in your beliefs, different sides of the scale are needed. It is what keeps things in balance. This is true on most any subject. You can see it in politics, in business, with friends, with the environment, etc. On here, those who honestly express their opinions based on honest beliefs, and do so maturely trying to get true discussion going are doing a great service.
The problem on here comes from the immature who have not grown up yet and look at the Internet not as a source of information and knowledge and better understanding, but as a way to provide a strange source on entertainment to an other wise boring life. They feel bullying is fun and acceptable entertainment. I don't know if that is how they act in the rest of their life or if they are the bullied in the rest of their life and on here they can let loose because they feel safe....Our job is to just recognize them for what they are and weed their answers out.

I know many atheist who get a real kick out of being heartless to Christians, and people of other faiths. They often have the nerve to SEEK US OUT to harass us for forcing our faith on them.
They complain about churches getting tax write-offs, when all the time they know their favorite atheist organizations like the ACLU gets tax dollars up the wazzoo, and the same tax write offs to boot! They call us killers, but then they refuse to comment when we mention that the biggest killers of all time were socialist and atheist.
Just ignore the people who you know are here just because they like harassing people, they will soon go away when we stop reacting to them..

There are many religions in the world. Follower of every religion believe that he/she is right and all others are wrong. Same is the case with people who believe in religions or those who do not believe in religiongs and they all think that they are right and others are wrong. Therefore, all such people who believe in religions and those who do not, write their views in so called Religious Board. I think there is no harm in it. Let every one state what he/she believes.
