i am 23 and occassionally wear my hair in two plaits whenever i can't be bothered to do my hair or it needs washing etc.... my nan commented that i was far too old to be wearing this sort of style, what do you reckon?
(so to annoy her, next time i visited i put my hair in two low bunches then plaited the bunches with three plaits each side!)

Hey, it's fun, go with it. Stay in touch with your inner kid - life's much more interesting that way.

If Alice bands are back in fashion, there should be no problem with pigtails as long as you're not trying to look smart for a job interview anyway!

I guess it really depends on the person and what their sense of style is. Some people who have younger looking features tend to look a little better in that particular hair style than others do. I've seen people who wear the pigtails far too high on the sides of their head and it can look a little ridiculous. I've seen some people wear the plaits down lower at the lowest part of their scalp with a few wispy pieces framing the face and it looks hip.

I say as long as someone isn't trying to do the whole Britney Spears school girl pigtails schtick (that is unless they're being kinky or something or dressing for Halloween) then they look alright.

Of course you should carry on wearing plaits. It can look sexy on an older woman, but in a 'sweet' way; it's not sophisticated.

Tell your Gran 'It's the fashion'. That should shut her up. If it doesn't just smile sweetly and stick with it. She's allowed her opinion, but so are you.

The only time I don't like plaits is when some old dear has got really long hair. It looks so dated, like something from the 1960s. Also on men who are bald at the front.

Sinnedfairy, I think it is fine for you to wear your hair that way provided you are young looking. I am twenty years your elder and still wear my hair in a single plait and I don't really give a flying f**k what anyone thinks. I think the time to stop wearing your hair that way is if you go grey or have the kind of skin that makes you look too much older. I wouldn't do it for work either, but it is a great look with jeans on the weekend.

8-10 is a good age. I can understand that there are some peole who find this look really attractive and maybe even sexy. But i think it looks plain stupid. As an adult there are so many ways to look gorgeous and sexy. Why o why do women feel the need to look like a 6 year old to attract people. Seems slightly weird to me. Never got that. Maybe its the innocent, please protect me kinda vibe...update the look sweetpea. Try some new looks. I go for the ponytail if my hair is doing the same thing. But thats boring too.Maybe we should have street vending machines for paper bags for bad hair days x

i imagine it relies upon on the accent, and how that's worn. as an get mutually, no longer many human beings over the age of 12 can pull off a great plastic scarf, yet a extra mature fabrics-lined band can seem very reliable on quite somewhat any female. A bow on the right or aspect of the top makes you seem to be Minnie mouse, yet clipped to the right of a French braid it appears that evidently comfortable and somewhat playful. i'm 35, and that i respect hair upload-ons--I actually have clips, bows, jeweled pins and headbands.

As long as u dont do French braids, just normal braids, and ur hair (when in pigtails and braided) is at least 4 inches long, then it looks great. Just remember to always put them over ur shoulders so that they hang in front, if they hang down in the back they look childish.

I don't think 23 is too old to be wearing this style. I do it sometimes too and all my guy friends tell me they love girls in pigtails and they have a "thing" for it.
