If I can only pick on thing there, I'd definitely go to the Louvre. It's so big, you can spend a lot of time in there to see everything. They have paintings, the famous Mona Lisa is there, all kinds of statues and stuff from Egypt, ...
We also enjoyed going up the Eiffel Tower, and seeing the Versailles castle.

The Eiffel Tower! It is so much bigger than it seems on TV or in photos and it's very exciting! I got to see the Three Tenors rehearse for their concert in the park in front of the Tower when the World Cup was in France. I'd always wanted to see it in person.

the area around Montmartre is nice.
But Paris is definitely not the best place to stay. South of France is much better

The Arc de Triomphe. If you can go the top of it there are beautiful views of Paris and the Tour Eiffel.

Are you more into museums or walking and discovering the streets ?
If you want to see the streets, I recommand you la Butte Aux Cailles, or Montmartre, or naer Notre Dame
If you go to Notre Dame, go in the towers, to see the gargoyles and the view on the Seine, that's impressive !
