That is what I do for a living:) I use pictures/drawings/etc to great custom gowns and replications of vintage/celebrity gowns for clients.

I bought my dress from Ebay and it is the most amazing thing I have seen. They do wedding dresses from pictures.
If you want more input in it I would suggest a local seamstress. Treat it like you would if you were hiring a new person at work. Ask for references and see if you can see work already done.

There are computer programs that can make a pattern for your dress see your seamstress makes her own patterns or if she has used such software. If you have never designed clothes before you may not be happy with the results so trying on a few gowns to see what you like in them may help getting a workable design.

depends also if your design is a bit complicated. You might have somebody who knows about designing or pattern making and help you through looking for a local seamstress. Wedding gowns are complicated so make sure that you have a good seamstress who can do the job. If you want email me your design and I can help you give directions and correct pattern and details that you can dictate to your seamstress. Just wanna help here..... I have a wedding shop but I dont think you are near my area.

Look under "wedding gown designers" in your area...seamstresses can sew dresses too but find one with previous experience and they should be willing to show you photos of what they've done.

So many nice dresses you are better off taking a shopping trip to a big city and picking one out.

You can go to your local bridal and ask about reccomendations on good seamstresses in the area. You can also ask fqmily members if they know anyone. But be careful.Yoyu do not want to hire anyone that cannot make the dress that you designed. If you do find someone that you think can make the dress, ask to see their work.

Go to seamstresses around the city. They should do that, because they do alterations. It's possible to do, but it's a pretty penny!

Go to http://talk.theknot.com and find your area in the local boards section. They have recommendations for seamstresses. Or go to a local fabric store and ask who they recommend.
