ieee is for all electrical engineers and other engineers who are interested in Electrical Engineering. It is a very expensive proposition unless you are a student member or an American working Engineer. Countries with poor purchasing power the cost of joining is very high. In the 80's the annual fees was around $300. I was a member but as a student for two years which used to cost only $12. There are lot of advantages like credit card referall when you graduate, rent a car discounts and whole lot of other benifits for members and publication priority.

Go SeaBee. There is a rate that is hard to get into because it requires you have Trig. Most people joining the military these days, at least enlisted, don't have trig. The rate is called EA...Engineer's Aide. It is basically a journeyman civil engineer. Good job if you want to help plan and design things. The Officers, actual Civil Engineers, are the ones who do the bulk of the designing tho. If you are more interested in building, than planning, go BU= Bulider or UT= Utilitiesman. Those guys are the worker Bees that build things. Good luck.
