Doctors here in U.K. mention it is normal for a baby to have this kind of cold throughout it's first winter. It's not very comforting, though. Would like to know any home remedies that we can take to boost his resistance to cold. Any pointers would be appreciated.

its hard since your baby is just 9 months old.i would apply lots of vaporrub on the chest and put on the humidifier that would help with the congestion.i dont believe in modern medicine for cold since none have proven to cure a virus.so the best is the above and another thing is saline drops for immediate relief(my dau never liked this)but it does the job.it takes usually a week or more for cold to go but i know its hard and common at this time of the year.All the best!!

if ur baby is bottle fed - the commonest problem - then ensure that the head is lifted at least 45 degrees, or else there will be nasal regurgitation which causes the nose to clog and the ears to get infected. Medication is not needed if the baby is cheerful and active we call this situation a "catarrhal child"

If it persists, I suggest that you see a doctor coz he is only 9 months old... don't take any chances with babies coz they are so vulnerable. I hope he'll be ok again soon.

first and foremost if you smoke do not,I repeat do not smoke around him.You need to give him baby vitamins on a regular basis.Also give him plenty of juice and water.Milk will only make it worse.
