You really want to know the type of people you are dealing with, just look at some of these good answers and look at all the thumbs down.
This used to be a good and informative place where answers were very helpful. for some reason things have changed.
I have a multi cat household and have Quite a bit of good knowledge to share, but I do not visit this site too often because of the way it has become.

I don't know - I've received some very nasty answers at times when asking general cat questions and it makes me wonder... how sad is someone's life that they are getting fun out of saying such nasty negative things. I come onto the cat category cause I have a cat and love to help out owners and learn a few things myself but I can't imagine coming on this site to ridicule people.

First of all, your last comment implies something derogative about "people's mothers"-Surely ONE gave an answer that was not offensive to your daughter? I agree with you to be the defensive mother lion, I truly do, but if your daughter is going to go on the computer (especially Yahoo Q&A-which consists of mainly "small minded people" that answer mean and hurtful questions, and there truly is no excuse for that!)-I feel you shoud have (or should) bring your complaint to the Yahoo Q&A administrators, this way the nasty numb-nuts that harmed your child will be banned from the site!!!!-Besides we do not need, nor want idiotic answers to a question that we post, otherwise we'd be better off asking our pet rock the question. I am sorry your daughter is so upset, and I feel that "irresponsible moron" should be hung, strung and quartered ( kidding) My serious answer is to get the SOB banned through Yahoo Q&A. That's what they are there for if you read your initial sign-up questions and agreements that you, and all of us had to agree to (i.e.-nothing sexual, do not give out your address, etc.)-It IS DO-ABLE, and I hope you do it.
PS-I too am a mother of a young child, and if someone hurts his feelings, that "raging mother lion" comes out in me-All out of love for my child. Good luck, and if you heed my advice, please consider letting me know, I am upset about this as you are as well. I commend you as a MOM!!!
Regards

I agree totally. People should confine themselves to topics that interest them, or to topics that they know something about, so that they can give genuine answers. People who don't like cats should stay away from this section & leave it to those of us who do. If someone asks a stupid or controversial question, that's fair game for slagging off, but if someone asks a genuine question the asker's feelings should be treated with respect. If you can't give a proper answer, then DON'T ANSWER!

It is really sad isn't it? I would explain to your daughter that no matter where you go in life there will be ugly rude people and to consider the source...
Yahoo answers can get pretty rough at times, you might want to help your daughter and monitor her usage - especially if this stuff upsets here. Unfortunately, the ugly people are not going to go away!

As you stated, your child was on last night.
Alot of children are on here every night. Parents do no know what their children are doing. So more than likely these kids are giving these stupid answers. Most adults do not talk the way some children on here talk.
Children asking lame questions, or not knowing how to spell will usually get a stupid answer, cause people think, this ones not the brightest bulb in the box, Their not going to understand what I type, or anybody for the matter.

That's an excellent question. Seems to be a common problem on all public forums. Maybe there's a Yahoo group where people are screened before they can post where your daughter can find some answers?

Why do people come on here and use such atrocious spelling? Did you read your question back through before posting it? Did it make sense to you, because it doesn't make any sense to me. What you ought to do, instead of posting statements that don't make any sense, is enroll both you and your daughter in a literacy program ASAP. Be angry at your own ignorance before you start sounding off about others'. Thumbs down.

Because some people are so uncontent with there own lives they like to pass on this negative carma to others, hoping this will allow them to feel less alone and pathetic.
Or its just youngsters having a laugh (come on...weve all been there)
But its mainly morons!!!

I agree! I especially hate in the homework help section where the answerers preach about "do your own work" and "stop cheating"...
Or the pervs that log in from under their rocks and ask pseudo-sexual questions to get a reaction....creeeeepy
If you don't have any positive to add, then don't add anything at all....
