I believe you can, i was in this job years ago where you could sign a form that made it possible for you not to work on a Sunday (or other day depending on religion) and all other similar days such as Good Friday Easter Monday etc.

But once you signed this you couldnt go back on it.

If your contract states that you will be flexible they may be able to force your hand.

That depends on what you do. I work in a kennel, and if I refuse to work on holidays I am out of a job. Did you agree to work holidays, did you read the fine print before accepting the job?

If you were Chaldean, it would be proper, as Dec 25 is the birthday of your god Tammuz, not working on his birthday would be consistent with you religion. But not for a Christian, because Jesus was not born on Dec 25, He was born on Passover.

If your employer is telling you you've got to work christmas day then i should show him/her your ****. This is a free country and if you don't want to work christmas day then don't, everyone has a choice.

yes, provided that you are being genuine.

if you ask for christmas day off for religious reasons, but have never mentioned being religious before in your life, then you havent much chance.

i guess it also depends on your contract. but bear in mind, its usually double pay on christmas day. thats why i have every intention on working new years eve, new years day etc etc!

If you are a medical professional, you can't.

Otherwise, just use your vacation days or holiday pay. If your employer insists, find a different job.

Depends on your religion and your job. Can't see a priest or vicar getting away with that pretext.

Yes, you can. However, if you live in an at-will state, you can be fired for no reason whatsoever and without notice.
