they is no early symtoms but if is painful than you better check it out with your doctor , serious problems may arise if too late

You can feel firm lumps in the neck. They may or may not be painful to touch. Fever may or may not be present. Lymph glands 1.5 cm. or more in size are significant. They may be due to an acute bacterial infection, TB or cancer.

My business pardner, had same problem, found cancer in lymph nodes. Get it checked in a hurry, catching it early can result in getting cancer free.
