Cuthberts' Tea Shoppe Rum Cake Recipe

Oil, for greasing pan
Flour, for coating pan
1 package yellow cake mix (without pudding)
1 small package vanilla pudding
4 eggs
1/2 cup combination of cooking oil, dark rum, and cold water, mixed together in equal parts
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Glaze:
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup hot water
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons dark rum, or more to taste

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Oil and flour a large bundt pan and set aside.
Mix all remaining cake ingredients together in a mixing bowl until combined, about 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Let cake cool.

While cake is cooling, make glaze: melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in hot water and sugar and bring to a boil while stirring constantly. Boil for 5 minutes while still stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in rum.

Poke holes in cake and drizzle half of the glaze over the cake. Invert onto a serving plate and then drizzle the rest of the glaze over the top and sides of the cake. Serve.

Chicken and Cheese Grill

Chicken
Garlic
Cheese Sauce
Cheese
Plain Crisps

Dice the chicken, and fry with garlic until its cooked though. Put in an oven proof dish and cover with cheese sauce. Sprinkle with the cheese and top with the crisps then grill until the crisps are golden brown. serve with potatoes or rice

Its really nice and the crisps do make a difference, it makes the top crunch, plus its very quick to make

Make some cheese sandwiches, cut them into strips. Beat together some milk and eggs to form a sort of custard. Place the bread in an ovenproof dish and pour over the egg mix (to soak into the bread). Place in a hot oven until its rich golden brown. Serve with just a green salad. Its filling, hot and easy to make. Leftovers can be eaten cold. Sort of like a savoury bread and butter pudding.

Why not get some decent mince and get the kids involved in making some really classy burgers? You can add some lovely fresh salad, some quality cheese and serve them in wholemeal buns too. Serve them up with home-made potato wedges (with sour cream dip) and you should be on to a winner all round.

Whatever you do decide to make, hope eveyone enjoys it!

English muffin pizzas, toast the muffins lightly, drizzle olive or vegetable oil lightly on tops, spread with pizza or spaghetti sauce, add cheese, pepperoni, bake for a few minutes (10)maybe longer till cheese is melted. Also, (cheater) chicken a la king, Use shredded (leftover) chicken, add one or two if necessary, cream of chicken soup, 1/2 to 1 can milk depends on consistency you like, season to taste, heat over medium heat on stove top. Serve over wide egg noodles. Look on the cans of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom and chicken soups, they have great, easy recipes, also Bisquick mix.If it's just a light snack you want "Trisquit" cracker box has easy snacks also.

I agree with Nia! A lovely night for homemade soup and it's so easy...just throw whatever you like into the pot!
I love cheese toast with my soup. Nothing fancy but it's good and comforting.
The rum cake listed above would be great with soup!
