Yes, the base is still there, as well as the soldiers guarding said base, along with the random mines in the property around the base to protect from intruders. I guess the next logical question is what made you think it wasn't there?

well i've been there, my brother was stationed there for a year during his first term. Im in the reserves in MI. The place is pretty small and boring, not really much to do, well my bro is kinda boring, so maybe he didnt try to hard. Don't worry your husband will be fine :) He'll be roomed with one other person, and they will change roommates once in a while. Rank doesnt really place you where u live too much..maybe he'll be with other e'4's and below though. as for his 2 weeks of recruiting, everyone on active does that :) you work til sometime in the afternoon, and u get the evening with your family or to do whatever :) as for traveling outside of the U.S, once he is stationed at Ft. Knox, and quartering there, he will have to wait til he has his 2 weeks of leave, then fill some papers out to his commanding NCO or officer, to say where he want to spend his 2 weeks of "leave", and yah i guess he'll be a passport away from whereever :D hope this helped, choose me :P
