It was not exactly a German book, but it was a book in German by Ephraim Kishon entitled: "Dreh'n sie sich um, Frau Lot", or in English: "Look back, Mrs Lot!" I read it when ill because it was the only thing going and I laughed and laughed. I was not too keen on things German at the time and it did me good to laugh in that language. I think that it is all the more significant that this happened because the author was probably of a similar view, having been to concentration camp. Laughing in German at the jokes of someone like him taught me perhaps more than I realised.
