Fact and truth is not the same thing. Facts express reality in terms of numbers, informations, time, money, finished job. Truth is what we feel inside and in includes religion, love, understanding, compassion and other spiritual things.
For example: fact is that the telephone conversation with one girl lasted 1 minute and 35 sec. But truth is that for such time I have spend one year in praying and I invested all my heart, soul and faith to tell her that I love her. But for her facts remain facts and truth is something not clear.
They say that dead body has 21 gram less weight. It is the fact. But the truth is that the soul is worth much more and it is precious.
Another example: fact is that I have told my mother 15.500 times that she is dear to me. That is the fact but the truth is that me and my mother have made little paradise in our humble home.
So what you prefer: fact or truth? If you prefer facts, rememeber that your last sex lasted 5 minutes and 35 seconds and it was cool.

You can't have truth without facts to back up it. If I started screaming that what I felt inside was that you would die if you didn't become a Bhuddist in 5 minutes and that this was truth to me... Well just think about it. If truth is what everyone feels -- and barely anyone feels the same about anything-- then who would believe in truth if it wasnt the same? Truth has to be something that is solid, that someone can believe in, that is unchanging. Or else it wouldn't be truth. I don't believe that everyone has their own truth. And therefore, since facts are also unchanging, truth is built on fact. Is it a lie that you spent 1 minute and 35 seconds on the phone with a girl? No its true too.

I'd define fact and truth a little different. I'd say fact is something we can prove to be true. Not necessarily numbers, but whatever we can somehow prove to be true. The truth is whatever is true, whether we know it's true or not or whether the truth can be proven.
The truth is more important. That's why we keep searching for it and trying to figure it out and prove it (= provide new facts). However, when we don't know the truth (as in can't prove anything, just hope or imagine or believe) I think it's better to rely on facts than your own imagination or beliefs while we're still searching, until we can find new facts about the truth. So facts are really important too, because it's in everyone's interest to live by facts while they search for the truth.

Sorry, I don't agree with you. Fact and truth are one and the same. Anything else falls under feelings which are not the same for everyone. Example: Someone says something rude to you. One person is laid back & doesn't feel any anger; they just shrug it off. Another person experiences great anger & slugs the guy. Feelings are responses to your own life events; there are good responses or bad ones. In the example above, the rudeness is a fact; the response is based upon how you feel about it.
Now about your 5 min sex: This is not a good thing. A good lover knows how to arouse a woman, thereby arousing the male, and takes his time doing it. 5 min sex is a "quickie" which can be fun but not if it happens on a regular basis.

I believe that the facts should be true and that truth should be factual. How can facts not be true. The truth does not have to have ALL the facts but the facts have to be true if the facts are Not ALL true they are not facts. What do you know about anybody's last sex except your own? and what has that got to do with anything in this?

Call me crazy, but I always use the dictionary for defintions of words, rather than Y!A members.
1. the true or actual state of a matter: 2. conformity with FACT or reality; verity: the truth of a statement.
3. a verified or indisputable FACT, proposition, principle, or the like: mathematical truths.
4. the state or character of being true.

Well, It's a nice sentiment but completely illogical. The "fact" that you prayed for a years is still a fact, it's just unknown to that other person. So what?
