Dumb Christians- You make us look stupid?

Question

To start off, I am an Anglican and a Christain. I am 100% in my belife but when I read the comments here I cringe in pain. How can you be SO DUMB. You don't only have FLAWED and IDIOTIC arguments but you make the rest of us look bad. For example you PROVE christianity using bible verses. That is not how you prove something, do it from a historic and scientific point of view. I CAN prove it both scientificly and historicaly. You cannot prove the bible is true by quoting the bible.

This is not meant to be insulting, but please think through your flawed logic before making us all look stupid. Does anyone else besides me get annoyed like this?

Well I have gotten alot of comments and I will breifly answer the major themes presented.

Firstly thank you to all the people who feel the same way as me, I'm glad I'm not alone in this issue.

Secondly I am not trying to "brag" or prove my own goodness, my point here is people using arguments which are in their essence flawed.

I would also like to point out I am not trying to insult anyone here, I am merely pointing out something which personaly gets on my nerves.

So onto the comments:

You CANNOT prove the Bible is true by quoting the Bible, it is a simple logical contradiction. I know YOU may think it is a legitemate source and I too belive it is. However in a debate over the truth in a document (which is what this is) you cannot use the documents own sayings.

As a Christian I look to the bible and compare it to the world as it is and can see when it is taken in a metaphorical and not literal sense it makes sense to me.

Use logic to win arguments.

Thank you. Very well put. Christianity is much more than the Bible. Believing in the truth of the bible takes faith. You cannot prove it. I guess I could start proving the Big Bang or evolution(both are theroies, therefore not proven) by using a book as proof.
See it doesn't work.

Seeing GOD will not produce faith.
Having faith will however allow you to see GOD.
I just answerd a question on a third grade level (Without scripture) and got a response of "Your answer sounds like a cat talking to a dog." There is a lot of truth in that response. People can not hear GOD unless GOD allows it. For that reason I agree with you. GOD's word makes no sense to a non believer it's just foolishness. Like having the owners manual for a product you don't own. The Bible will prove GOD to anyone who will take the time to study prophecies and history but if people have to spend more then 5 minutes looking at something they discard it as trash. There is a really amazing intelligence behind all this devolution of mankind. I am thankful to be here to watch it.

Friend I don't know what you are talking about, but if you want us to prove something about religion, why not use scriptures,, Now you say you are 100% in your belief, How did you get 100% without the Bible. Therefore your min id already closed to anything except angelican teachings, I am 100% in my belief too, & why I am is because it took me over 36 yrs of serving God to get to where I am at now. I am not a novice. Did you instantly took it for granted, Many times people like you is what gives us True Christians a bad name, I can prove many flaws in the Angelic teachings, you tell us to prove something & then just as all the others you say don't use the bible, with that phrase, you want us just to answer the question as YOU SEE FIT & not the way it is. Now I can prove True Christianinty without using the bible as you claim that is all we use. Now To porve to you that God does exist without using Bible, What makes the sun come up & go down I know you will say the rotation of the earth, see now you are trying to dis-prove, What causes that rotation, what keeps the stars up in space, what gave you your breath, what gave you your hungar pains & eating until you are full feeling. What causes you skin to die everyday & replace itself, What causes Thunder & Lightning & rain & snow & the trees to bloom in the spring & fall off in the fall, & what causes the flower to bloom in the spring & die off in the fall, What causes a flower that is in direct sunlight close it's petals to protect itself from the sun, & what causes a petal on the flower to close every evening to sleep at night & reopen the next moring, Now I can use many & many more examples, & I never used one verse, Now you explain you ideals to me with out using scriptures, & since you are a Angelican That is one reason you don't want an answer from the bible, so let's hear it from your proof. Many times it is not us Christians that make someone look stupid, people like you does it to yourself just as you did this time.

This is tough. I too get tired of reading the copy & paste verses's But beaing the christain I am ,I just over look it.The scientifc & historic commuities have been working hard to find proof of things that the bible said hapened.This is a book wrote by man for man( no pun ladys) not by the creatator's hand. As christans can't we forgive them for what they post?

Hi yes as a Christian sick and tired of this down your throat Bible thumping I sure do agree with your comment, a Christian must lead by example and no better example is to walk the talk and do some positive action to bring the love of Christ to others.
instead so many quote scripture at people who do not understand it at all and think this will win them over, and they never seem to learn that christian action would be a lot more profitable in this regard.
no wonder unbelievers are cold to Christ if this is the best we can do for them, you cannot talk a wound better, but you can help to heal it with patience, understanding, love and compassion as Jesus did.

I appreciate your sentiment but most Christian don't even know what they are dealing with(their own religion). That's the reason too why many stray away from Christianity. If only they knew the beauty of all 3 great religion, they wouldn't have doubt 100% its the truth. Only believes that defers. I respect all religion and i respect you for your own believes. Not believing doesn't mean to criticize others. Muslims don't criticize Hindu, Buddha etc.

The American educational system is pretty bad. The USA ranks 51st in literacy. SAT scores have been dropping steadily since their peak in 1963. It is the dumbing-down of America. That is why you see people talking about Noah's Ark and "Creationism" like they are real. Ignorant people are easy to fool and manipulate. Karl Rove and GW Bush have proven that.

yes, I agree. I recently asked a very simple question and the only reason I did not get bible verses was because I asked them not to post that content. I didn't get many answers, because they couldn't answer it with thier own words. it is annoying because they want people to take them seriously, but when posed with a serious question, they take offense and start rambling about the bible. I understand your frustration.

I for the most part, unless I am Bored like I am today here at work with nothing to do until 2:00 p.m. will entertain myself with this, as for the most part, Hard hearted Athiest's who come here and insult and attack Christianity are not worth my time, I found this out the hard way, I have used science and recorded historical facts to prove my evidences, all it accomplished was their becoming enraged and screaming insults of all manner, and made them even more hard hearted as their hearts are "seared" against God, I can win and arguemental battle with them, but lose the war, it changes nothing with them, but made it worse.
