Navy corpsman are the medics of the navy marine corps, they live with and fight beside the marines in every place and clime., Most corpsman are also known as "DOC"., but understand this title is reserved only for the well trusted, and proven corpsman. it is bestrode upon them from there marines. At this time you stop being a corpsman, and start being a marine that knows medical stuff. these corpsman will pick up a rifle and return fire wile working on a wounded marine, he will be on the front line taking rounds and giving them right beside his marines.
Marines commonly known as "bullet sponges" , are some of the toughest, best trained, most disciplined unit i have ever had the pleasure of serving with. They are the ground fighting unit of the navy.they are the ones that come from the sea, to destroy any and all enemies that are faced.

I have been waiting for this for a long time. The medic can read and write! :-) Don't start on me read on The Marines are the only fighting unit we have left. Though I was in the Army I was in charge of two Marine platoons at Fort Lee and was impressed, hell no I was in awe! A Afro American who was either a civilian or a member of the Army asked another Afro American (Marine) how many brothers were in his company ending it with brother. The Marine said we don't have any blacks and I am not your damn brother, they are motioning to a gaggle of Marines who could have been a poster for the UN, (white, yellow, brown). The questioner looked as if someone slapped him silly I know as I looked the same. It was so hot we went to a heat warning to unblouse our boots and walk not run or march. They ran for three blocks before I caught them. The mess Sergeant told the E-1 and 2's they could only have one glass of milk and the gunny ripped the screen door off and chased him down the street. A Army company marched through a Stop sign and even though we had right-away I ordered a halt and they halted but when the Army marched by the Marines beat the **** out of them. When the MPs came I told them my version which made the Marine adopt me. The Marines for some unknown reason do not have their own medics and use the Navy's (It appears to be nothing more than tradition) medics. They are real heros.
God Bless The Corp, Chesty, and The Southern People.

Lifestyle wise, not much is different.
The US Marine Corps is actually part of the US Navy. Rather than have non-combatant Marines, the Navy provides the medics/corpsmen. They are very respected by the Marines because they have a life that is just as tough and they are facing fire without a weapon.

A Navy Corpsman is a member of the U.S. Navy who has been trained as a Emergency medical Tech. and then is attached to a forward ground unit of marines to deal with medical problems both combat and everyday accident related. they also offer medical assistance to the indigenous peoples in their area of operations.
They are highly motivated and dedicated individuals. who under fire are willing to crawl out to a wounded solider to treat his injuries and to get him out of harms way. the Navy medical corps has a long proud history. Anyone who has ever yelled "MEDIC"
while under fire knows exactly what I'm talking about.
