Did some religious nut make this up? You will find no scientist who says this is true. Supersititions, myths, and religions have no validity, but people believe them. Friday the 13th isn't unlucky, and the Loch Ness Monster and Easter Bunny don't exist.

It is more of a misinterpretation of the data.

Foundations of Physiological Psychology by Richard Thompson notes that 90% of the cells in the brain are glial cells and 10% nerve cells. The glial cells have often been considered as connective tissue.

Since people do not read things fully, this notion has stuck

Possibly from the fact that historically we haven't had a very good understanding of what each part of the brain does. It may be that at the time that myth started, we only understood the function of 10% of the brain.

I think someone was probably reading a study on brain capacity and skipped over a few words. This genius then decided to tell a friend about the report and it all broke down from there.

I first heard That in 7th Grade from my Science Teacher Mr. Britt at Brentwood Elementary School in Fayetteville NC.That was in 1970, he was a hateful old man, and is in _ _ _ _ now, I am sure, but bad as he was, he was no dummy.

Okay, I agree with most of what you said, except scientist did conclude that we use approximately only 10% of our brain. There are parts of the brain that have absolutely no use, as far as we know. At least, we haven't "cracked the case" yet.

Has nothing to do with religion.

why should we use more than 10%? the world we be destroyed, it's bad already or maby is a slow proces but anyway, i think the rest of 90% is each one of us's spirit
