Darn, S2udd stole half my arguement. :D
In a way, yes, existance does prove that god exists, for if there was not a universe how could we be here? I don't believe she means the fact that there is life on Earth, put more asking does the fact that there is anything at all prove that god exists. So, yes, A GOD does, not a specific one.
How else do you explain the universe? The Big Bang Theory? The explaination that suddenly the universe was made from balls of gas and floating atoms where there was nothing there before? Oh yes, that makes about as much sense as spontanteous generation. I challenge someone on THAT theory.

I don't see how existence proves anything bar our own small time-scale (in the grand scheme of things) survival.
There is no proof and I do not see how a book written millions of years after the proven existence of man (if not homosapien at that time) proves anything either.
At the end of the day we may never know our origins, we may be from space via comet bacteria, who will ever really know ? As for proof of a God through our own existence, I cant even see how it is possible to start to explain that logically. Or does logic not come into the minds of believers ?

There is wide agreement among scientists that the universe had a beginning. Most also agree that before that beginning, something real must have existed. Some scientists talk about ever-existing energy. Others postulate a primordial chaos as the preexisting condition. Whatever terms are used, most presuppose the existence of something—something without a beginning—that extended back infinitely.
So the issue comes down to whether we presuppose some thing eternal or some one eternal.
I hope that the following link will be helpful in answering your question about who god is.

This will probably start a major debate but then....
When I was a little younger I was fascinated by all this and read many religious scripts and also spoke to many people form various religions and came to this conclusion (this is mine and I am not insinuating that it is right)
Christian, Muslin and Jews share a common start to their religion - the Old Testament is very Similar to the Torah and the Koran - the difference is in the conclusion. In Islam the Prophet Mohamed is God's messenger - In the Jewish faith - they are still waiting for the Messiah/ son of God to arrive and believe that Christ was only another prophet with no special powers. The Christians however believe that Christ is the Son of God and are now waiting for the second coming. In Hindu and many South American Indian Tribes and African Tribes as well as the 3 major religions - we all share a common story of the Flood and God (in some cultures, God is a Women) saves us as well as the Tower of Babel - where the human race stopped understanding each other (an in other cultures - the animals as well)- this leads me to believe that at one time we were all one religion but as is human nature - someone asked questions that could not be answered by the common standard and thus we evolved different theories as to who/ what God is. If we think about this a higher power put us on earth for a reason - I believe in God full stop. P.S: In all religions the true name of GOD can not be mentioned out loud without offence.
Therefore by our own existance we created our own image of God as guided by Him..

As Lili T, Mad and others have said, there is only ONE God.
Why can't people understand this? How could there be more than more God ? God means Supreme, the Highest of the High. There is no battle between Christian God or Muslim God or any other God. God is God full stop.
God exists. Just believe and make it easy on yourself. You dont need proof, although one day you will get it.

No, nothing can prove or disprove the existance of a god and if that ever happened it would be science and not a faith.
Maybe the human mind as a collective is strong enough to create gods, thus giving us a reason for everything and making people comfortable in their faith.
Or
It may scare some people to admit that they have no answer to something that has happened, instead of just accepting that they can't understand why.
As human beings understand the world better as a science, the further down the line god is placed for blame or love. Eventually science, will be take the place of faith in many ways, people blame god for taking away their loved one, now they blame god for giving their loved one cancer which took them away, soon they will blame god for giving them the thing that caused the cancer in the first place and so on...
Now think about this, maybe we exist to find the answer to everything in order to create a god which in turn will allow another species to start all over again... wooooo, thats deep.
PS PANDANANDAS answer is excellent... Imagine if GOD as in PANDANANDAS answer decided to break up the human race in order for us to war and love eachother differently onl y to make us stronger in the end!!

There is only ONE God who belong to all those believer of God. The problem is almost all believers of God now a days do not recognise and fully knowing God therefore they claim they have a different God as there refer God with many-many name according to their own mother tongue language.
Should there were more than one God in this universe, then we by now could already see every day these God would be fighting and quarrelling to each other and no planet would be safe for the living creature of God like us.

Does God Exist? If God didn't exist how did we get here? The big bang right? A mass of gases which one day exploded and created the universe. If a religion stated centuries before the theory came about would we believe there is a God?
"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? " (21:31)
A verse from the Quran.
Nandapanda made comment, which I would like to rectify, she said Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. Muslims DO beleive that Jesus was the Messiah, what we don't believe is that he was the beggoton son of God as Christinas do.
If you watch a guy named Dr. Zakir Naik, in his video Muhammad in the religious scriptures, he claims you can find Muhammad in the Bible, Hindu scriotures, and even in Zoroastrianism scriptures.
Also Muslims have to believe in the Bible, Pslams and the Torah (in their uncorrupt form, as we believe that the Bible we have today is not thesame as the one revealed). "And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter." 2:4

yes God exist the world is made too perfect for there to be doubt about the existence of God,moreover there is no muslim or christian God as there is only one God who is the creater of all things and who has been in existence before the begining of time, now in terms of christian or muslim God,you are only refering to religions which was introduced to the world which is a way of serving and doing God's will and which also teaches us how to love one another, both religions were suppose to achieve the same aim but we human decide to worship God in a way that suits us i guess.

Oh, please.
Read the existentialists for that age old done and re-done argument.
God is a reality each person either experiences in some way or doesn't. But even if you are not aware of something, doesn't mean it isn't going on or happening. No person can tell what is in the Mind of God.
