give it a rest for a while. by tugging on it, you have caused your finger to swell, and made it tighter.
if it still doesn't work after the swelling has gone down (with more soap or oil), you might have to get the ring cut off.

I've never tried this but I heard about a way to get a ring off by wrapping a string around your finger.Start below your knuckle, keep the wraps as close together as you can.As you wrap it will compress the finger slightly.Continue wrapping until you get to the ring. Slide it back as far as you can,then feed the end of the string under the ring.Slide the ring onto the string.Once the string is above the ring, slowly start unwrapping it and the ring will come off with it.

Make sure your hand is cold and try the oil again. Dont tug at it too much as you will make your finger swell. It could take a few days this way but it should work if the ring is going to come off at all. Failiing that it will have to be cut off. Hope that doesnt happen.

I had the same problem at the jewellers the other day, and the shop owner asked me to 1. relax my fingers 2. pull the skin back gently while pushing the ring forward. So push it first, then pull the skin back from behind the ring and carry on doing so until it comes off and if it is too stuck use oil with it too. Good luck

Hi well in my job we always take rings off fingers due to injuries.Go to your nearest A/E dept book yourself in and one off the Drs or a orthopaedic plaster technician will cut the ring off with ring cutters,the ring will be in 2 halfs thou then your finger will slide out.If you dont get the ring off your finger will swell up as the ring is restricting blood supply.Good Luck

Easy. You push your ring up as close to your hand and slip a string up under it then wind the string just tight enough to compress the part of the finger you want the ring to pass over. Slip the ring over or pull the string that you slipped under it. Walla!!! Good Luck (;-}
I should have said wrap the string around the part that you want the ring to pass over.

The hospital ER will have an instument to cut the band. The ring can be repaired afterwards. I have done this often in injuries to hand or finger.

Try and make your finger a bit colder....Lowering the temperature makes it contract and so should make it easier to get off. Also, leave it a while before you try again, because constantly tugging at it will just make your finger swell up and it will get even more stuck.

Run your finger under cold water or use ice to cool it. This is a really useful tip for the summer!
