Has Greece ever played a fighting force in modern day war? Yes, and no. Greeces involvement in modern day wars is a self serving one. Either to gain territory or maintain territoty. When World War II broke out in September 1939, Greece remained neutral, while welcoming Britain's guarantee of Greece's territorial integrity. In the October of 1940, Mussolini fabricated an incident on the Greek-Albanian border, and Italy presented Greece with a humiliating ultimatum. Metaxas sent a famous one-word telegram: Ohi! ("No!").

Greece has long been at odds with its close neighbour, Turkey, over territorial disputes in the Aegean and the divided island of Cyprus.

Relations warmed after both Turkey and Greece suffered earthquakes in 1999 and offered each other practical help. Although the disputes remain unresolved, the Greek government gives strong backing to Turkey's EU bid. It sees dividends to be gained from the increased regional stability that it believes membership would bring.
I doubt it unless it posed a threat to them.

Nope, Greece would only go as far as taking Istanbul, a prize it's been eyeing for decades, if not centuries & probably retake Turk occupied North Cyprus on behalf of the Greeks in Cyprus.
