They are fake. They stick to broad general statements and depend on the person to volunteer information and fill in the gaps. The better the fortune teller, the better they are at reading people's non verbals and their language.
I had one just a few years ago because a friend was making a big mistake and about to take this woman's advice. I went. I listened. I volunteered just enough to say I was participating . . . since I invited my friend along. Later I pointed out that the psychic had made extremely broad statements . . . like I would meet someone in 3 days or 3 weeks or 3 years, but it would be in a 3. I pointed out her opening statement was this is for entertainment purposes only. I had her notice when she made the comment that something she said could have happened in the past or it could be in the future. So my summation was it did not matter what this woman said, she always left the door open so you could remember and say that she was right.
I guess it was bad to pseudo go along and expose this physic, but she had my friend convinced to give up a great job, start a garden and to open a restaurant . . . when she doesn't really even cook. Of course, the desired result lasted about 2 years then my friend decided to see another woman that enjoys a good reputation. I just told my friend point blank that I had met this woman and what I felt emanate out from her was not a good feeling and that I wouldn't want her in my personal space. (And I am not being fase about that feeling, I have met the woman and all I felt was anger pour out from her. It was really creepy.)

I think that they are another form of entertainment. like going to the movies, or a magic show. it's fun to have your fortune told, as long as you don't live your life based on the reading. and fortune tellers are NOT occult. people who say that are just as likely to burn a witch at the stake if they could get away with it...and THAT is occult.

Isaiah 8:19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Notice how it but sorcers in the list which represents all those who do fortune telling and speak to the so called spirits of the dead.

I'm sure you're sincere, but I deeply hope you won't allow yourself to take a wrong path in life by getting involved with any kind of occult practice. Instead of bringing you close to God, it will only take you away from Him.
Why do I say this? The reason is because the Bible clearly says that occult practices of any kind do not come from God, but from spiritual powers that oppose Him. In other words, the Bible says occult practices aren't a gift from God (as you believe) but come from the one who opposes Him—namely, Satan. God warned the ancient Israelites that the nations around them practiced sorcery and divination, "But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so" (Deuteronomy 18:14).
Instead, I urge you to turn to God and seek His will for your life. Only He knows our future, and only He can be trusted to lead us. God loves you, and He wants what is best for you—and the proof is that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to die for you on the cross.
Our greatest need is to be cleansed of our sins—only Christ can do that. By a simple prayer of faith invite Jesus to come into your life today—and He will. Then make it your goal to "pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:22).

I don't believe in them. I am sure there are people who see things happen before they do but not by wishing it. I think it's hit and miss and can't be CALLED on.

If they actually know how to tell fortune then they simply need to do so with devotion to the Supreme God. They should not tell fortune for the sake of material/mundane lust, anger or greed.
