there are thousands of known viruses, and hundreds of virus infections.
Poliomyelitis: virus infects the nerves in the spine. end effect- paralysis. cure- none. prevention- vaccination
Herpes: virus infects the skin- usually around the mouth and/or genitals. end effect- painful sores. cure- acyclovir in creams and/or pills. prevention- watch out who you kiss and/or ..........
Hepatitis: at least 6 known strains of viruses. Hepatitis B virus is transmitted by dirty needles and causes severe damage to the liver (as evidenced by the yellowing of the skin). end effect- possibly death. cure- none known. prevention- vaccination. Vaccination works only for A and B strains, so avoid needles, tatoos, piercing etc.
