Representative Rangel is the only one saying he wants to start a draft. People in his own party are quietly shouting him down.
The last time he presented a bill to start a draft, he voted against his own bill!!!
His ideas about the military are convoluted. We currently have the best military in the world. He thinks a volunteer army attracts the poor, dumb, minorities and otherwise disadvantaged. It has not happened.
He also thinks, if there is a draft, and family members of Congress are drafted, Congress will not vote to send them to war. When we had the draft in the past: WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Congressmen did vote to go to war. So none of claims are true. None of his ideas have merit.

Is this indifference to the Republicans who keep the minimum wage at a poverty level; who businesses manage not to pay taxes; who want the poor and elderly sleeping in the street and to force the young who cannot find a job or afford college into the military to do their bidding? Kerry was right there is no place for the young to go and even with the military keeping to lower the requirements is not enough cannon fodder. Heaven forbid for the elite, rich and connected to fight for their country not ONE of your Rush- Hannity group, not one has ever been in the military. O'Reilly can sexually harass women, Rush can buy and take illegal drugs and the really sad news they'll condemn everyone else who does. Talk is cheap. Put up or shut up.
I know your hero Rush thinks that the Confederates should have been tried and hung but please allow this Southerner to say God Bless You and The Southern people.

Democrats don't want to reinstate the draft. IF it comes to vote, Rep. Rangel himself won't even vote for it.
Why would troops be sent to Africa? The Middle East is in Asia, but we want them to leave there, not more to go.

I think it is an important point to note that democrats are for the draft. Because it provides a window into their view of government. Their primary concern is not for freedom. In fact they assume we are all property of the government.
A conscript army sent around the world to area's where we have no national interest.
It is also interesting that they like to use the military as long as it doesn't serve our national interest. Like in Bosnia, or Somalia. While logic dictates that you only use military force when your national interest is at stake.

It's simple:
Republican War , all volenteer , highly trained . well equiped = BAD
Democrate War , draftees , poorly trained cannon fodder , cheap equipment and not enough of it = GOOD , gives the excuse to cut and run .
GOOD BYE IRAQ , hello DARFUR !

Democrats should stay out of matters that they're not good at handling, like anything to do with the military. They should stick to the things they're good at like raising taxes and giveaway programs and constantly comparing the USA with European debouchery.
