Is that why you do acts of kindness, to be thanked? Then your doing it for the wrong reason. Yes, it is kind of you, don't get me wrong, but we don't know whats going on in the head of the driver you just let out. They could have just gotten a bad phone call, or were perhaps stressed, worrying about traffic and when they'll be let in, etc. In other word, you never know. . . your not doing it for the thanks, but on the off chance you'll help someone who really needs it. Keep up the good works!

Just for all your oldies out there, I'm a young driver, and I let people out, and I say thank you to people who let me out. If you want to bring age into this, I find its the elderly people who dont say thank you, and they tend to forget what that stalk on the side of the wheel is for - Its for using the indicator!

I hate it when people just assume young drivers this and young drivers that.....

And YES I hate ignorant drivers! lol

But I totally agree about not letting out BMW, Merc or 4x4 drivers, they tend to be arrogant pigs who think they're gods gift and don't say thank you.

Well in Glasgow 95% of the time you'll get a wee wave or a thumbs up or a flash of the hazards as a thank you.

Thats probably because if you dont you would get dragged out of the car and leathered ;)

I dont think anything about it, if nothing else, they may be having a bad day or be concentrating on something on the road I haven't seen, or perhaps something else entirely.
Agreed, though, if their noses are out, the only time I let them go is if I am afraid I cannot get round them safely. They bug me more than anything else.

Don't let them out. Just grip the steering wheel and stare straight ahead. That should teach those ignorant, selfish drivers out there.

If you are female and let people out you deserve to be thanked and acknowledged, but in my experience you are a minority as 99.9% of female drivers will not let anyone out and drive so close to the car in front so there is not the slightest gap to pull into!

YES!!!! It's one of my pet hates!! I also get stressed when drivers don't indicate, especially at roundabouts when it means you could have gone or didn't have to stop. Oooh, and people that pull out in front of you when there's nothing behind you and then drive really, really slowly. Grrrrr!!!

You must live in New York....it's best to let it go, dont let it ruin your day, people walk like that also, just dismiss it as no home training and feel pity for them......you are better than that and everyone here at "answers" would probably agree with me.....

I can relate to how you feel about rude people. I've met a few myself, and it makes me wonder why some people take things for granted!!! They think that people SHOULD just help them ANY time!!! People need to learn more about good manners!!!
