There is no definition of a normal blood pressure (BP) so it is difficult to know what you mean by 'very high'. If your BP is truly high there is no realistic way to reduce it without medications. It is possible to reduce your BP a little by restricting salt intake and regular exercise. The most accurate BP is that taken within 30 minutes of awakening and by accurate I mean that this reading correlates best with the likelihood of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. The goal is 115/065.

I used to take drugs for high blood pressure, but when I started going to the gym regularly, it went down. High BP is really bad for you, so you need to get it down without drugs if you can. I took drugs for some years and I suffered disturbed sleep because of them. Also restrict your salt intake and try and find out WHY your BP is high. Good luck.

Cut yourself and bleed for a while, this will lower the pressure in your veins.
Note: This is a joke! I do hope you are not that gullible! If it's that high, then a short course of drungs may be the safest option.

Have a look here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/04/04/earlyshow/contributors/emilysenay/main1467751.shtml and here: http://familydoctor.org/092.xml Though it is possible that a dietry, life-style change may help to reduce your blood pressure, you really should be guided by your doctor. You don't need to take drugs if you don't want to - it is your choice after all.

You're foolish to refuse drugs for it but that's your choice. Change of lifestyle if necessary e.g give up saturated fat, smoking and alcohol. avoid stress. take periods of rest by actually lying down when you can. breathing or relaxation techniques may help.
