My mom is diabetic so we try and get her sugar free candy sometimes. Some of the candy the sugar free chocolate has sugar alcohol. I know alcohol can also lead to diabetes, so what is the difference between sugar - sugar alcohol - and alcohol. Thanks.

Sugar alcohol is derived from sugar but has an alcohol chemical make-up. They have sweetening properties but provide fewer calories therefore they don't impact blood sugar in the same way that sugar does.

not much difference. as the first answerer sez sugar comes in many forms some worse then others but ALL is bad. count carbs for best health.
