It's normal to still be swollen, but to be swelling more seems strange. Are you on any pain meds? I'm surprised that your mouth would be feeling tingly and numb. I've had my teeth out, and I learned it's best to go back to your dentist as soon as you have what might be a problem, because weird stuff can happen sometimes. Not scary weird, but just unexpected. I'd get an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible (explain what's happening), just so s/he can check things out. I had some problems with my wisdom teeth extraction that could have been a lot less bad had I gone in even just a day earlier. Your mouth changes quickly, so I'd go ahead and call. Also, the fact that just one side of your cheek is affected is a clue that something might be going on with that tooth--the doc may just need to do something simple with the packing/sutures or something, so don't freak out. But do go in! Good luck, and hope that helps!!

No it is not normal. The numbness should wear off within 24 hours. This does not sound right, especially if as you say it has continued swelling. You might have an infection. I assume you were given some antibiotics after the extraction. Please see your doctor.

Dear Pete***

hee!hee! It's really no joke, because you look like an oversized hamster.!!
The tingly/numb feeling should have worn off by the next morning. Your cheek after a couple of days should and I repeat should NOT be swelling more, it should be going down??

It has to get better, not worse, and the best things you should have eaten was ice-cream and jelly, not solid foods..
Phone your Dentist and explain, make an appointment with immediate effect!!

Just remember, they need to get into your mouth when you're under. All the equipment holding your jaw open, taking their pliers and see-sawing your teeth out, major mission I promise you, you can just picture your dentist with his foot against your shoulder trying to get your teeth out (ha! ha!). My face was black/blue when I had mine pulled.

love peppa-anne
**p.s. in response to "after 24 hours" my face was swollen for two weeks. Because I have a narrow jaw-line, more difficult to get at the back!!!!!!!!!!

THIS SWELLING TELLS ME THAT THE EXTRACTIONS WERE NOT DONE ATRAUMATICALLY. THERE IS A GENTLE WAY TO CAUSE THE BONE AND TISSUES NOT TO BE TRAUMATIZED.

IF THIS WAS A SURGICAL EXTRACTION WHERE THE DENTIST HAD TO DRILL ON BONE OR CUT INTO THE GUMS, THEN IT'S VERY LIKELY TO HAVE SWELLING.
WARM COMPRESSES WILL HELP TO DECREASE THE SWELLING AT THIS POINT. SOME IBUPROFEN IS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND WILL AID IN TAKING DOWN THE SWELLING.

It is totally normal to swell up on the 3 and 4th days they should be your worst days for swelling. If it continues to get worse and not better after the 3rd or 4th day you need to see your surgeon. I have worked for an Oral Surgeon for years and trust me it is normal.

That don't seem right go back to the hospital with your antibiotics and tell them you had to go elsewhere they could have left a tiny piece in which is very painfull ask for an xray

It would be more usual to exerience swelling immediately after the extraction. Maybe you could visit your dentist for advice?

After i had mine out - my face was swollen the day after and for about 3-4 days after that.

Take care, hope you are well soon. XXX.
