Could someone actually be paranoid schicophenic but just say they really havent got it will taking all the medication affect them in anyway? They have diagnosed my friend.
(i think they have just diganosed her with it for the hell of it cause she never showed symptoms.)
Its just cause she has always been this bubbly attention seeking person and all of a sudden since taking this medication for it she has just gone down hill... she's slow at everything she does... nothing communicates quickly to her like if you told her something really obvious she would sit there looking at you and say what do you mean? she moves her mouth alot and sticks out her tounge and like licks the air.
i really think its an easy way out for her so she doesnt have to go out and get a job everythings at her beck and call. they diagnosed her with epolepsy recently but i really think she told the doctor that shes got that and again they have just gone along with it.

dodgy8 it amazes me that you said this 'A person suffering from paranoid schizophrenia often performs quite well socially and occupationally.'
My friend actually doesnt i dont no if she's got in her head i have to act sick or something but she is totally opposite to what she use to be like.
its like the med's have killed some of her brain cells and just other little details ive noticed in her that seems like she's been misdigonosed.
they first diagnosed her with A.D.D then it wasnt until a couple of years ago they treated her again and this is what they have said now.

I am of the opinion that any emotion can be faked... just look around you...... and take a look at all the doctors that will do what it takes to get you on drugs..... sorry, but I see it that way.... look at our children that are on Ritalin or some such med for hyperactivity... *sigh*, mom or dad says they are, so the dr. writes a scrip., does not make sense to me, but I do agree *some* kids are and need help thru the tough years, my son was one of them, but when he got to a certain point, learned control, he and I discussed and off of the meds he went.... same with adults, a lot of them are looking for ways to escape the reality of this life... just watch the news, that should clue you in..... but as for your friend, I do have my doubts, but then again I am NOT qualified to say one way or the other.... but the way she is acting now, after meds, is not sounding right to me.... I have friends with a son with it, and he showed very, very distinct symptoms of it, he, and this is NOT funny, thinks he is Gods' chosen one, of what I am not sure, but you see the difference ?? *sigh*, rather real or not this story you tell is a sad one....... God bless

Schizophrenia can be faked; it can be misdiagnosed; or it can be hidden by the person who has it until hiding it is no longer possible and the person ends up in the hospital.

There is another possibility which involves people faking medical or psychological conditions, because they feel the need to be patients, to be taken care of... Check out Munchausen Syndrome. Often times people with this disorder will receive unnecessary hospitalizations and even surgeries, after falsifying, exaggerating, or producing symptoms in themselves.

But your friend may not be faking it; schizophrenia comes in all strengths, from mild to cripplingly severe. If your friend does have it, I feel it may be necessary to talk to a doctor about adusting her meds, since her quality of life has obviously gone down due to side effects. (Onset of schizophrenia can be sudden. Be sure you are seeing side effects and not symptoms.)

They can have side effects from the medication...which sounds like what your friend is having...and it probably needs to be adjusted or changed
A person suffering from paranoid schizophrenia often performs quite well socially and occupationally.
They wouldnt just take her word and then diagnose that she has epilepsy..there is alot of tests and that goes with her schizophrenia...a proper mental assessment would of been performed by qualified personnel..not just a GP down the road.

PULL HER OFF THE MEDS NOW! The pills are doing a half @$$ job with a side of crazy so pull the plug on the meds. There is a possibility she's faking but some people just have schizophrenic tendencies... i do. Do what's best for her as if she was your mother.

You can suddenly get schizophrenia. You don't have to have the symptoms for you entire life.
