Yes there is a link with type 1 diabetes & ceoliac disease. I know, in Scotland, this has become more common so doctors are screening type 1 diabetics for coeliacs disease. My son is a type 1 diabetic who was tested a year after diagnosis, for coeliac disease. If screening for coeliac disease has not been offered for people with type 1 diabetes, I would pursue the matter with a doctor or specialist diabetic nurse. yes and yes. get a endomysial antibodies/ transglutaminase Ab done for confirmation and endoscopy with SI Bx may be done for confirmation.
