NOT A STUPID QUESTION! YOU ARE LEARNING AND EDUCATION IS NEVER STUPID!
They are basically onion grass - go the the local grocery and ask the green grocer for chives they come in a little plastic box and are usually with the fresh herbs like basil. You can substitute the tops of green onions finely diced the flavor is similar or buy dry in the spice isle. BTW they are good in soups and dips and are a nice surprise in salads.Good Luck!

You can buy them dry in the herb section of your grocery store.
You can also buy them fresh at a larger supermarket that carries a lot of variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, in the fresh herb section.
Chives are the tops (leaves) of a plant related to the onion. The taste is similar to an onion. Just imagine a green onion, but smaller, and only the green part is used.
Hope it helps.
Oh, and they're pretty easy to grow at home in a small pot. You can find herb kits online if all else fails.
Good luck!

You can find them in the produce section of your grocery store. They are a herb, and a member of the onion family. There are also dried chives in a jar, but they are not as nice.

Chives grow in clumps and look like thick grass. They are not a part of anything else
In the store, they will be kept with the other fresh herbs. They look like dark green tubular grass and taste and smell like onions (They are from the onion family)

Chives are of the onion family, very thin, they're are perennial which means they come back every year if you're growing them.
You should be able to find them in the super market in the produce section.

They are the cut up leaves of a plant that has purple flowers shaped round like dandilion flowers gone to seed. The one I have comes back every year. They taste oniony and you can buy them at grocery stores both dry in spice section and in those little plastic packages of fresh herbs in the produce section of most grocery stores.

First, there are no stupid questions. You can't learn if you don't ask. They are a delicate flavored small bulb of the onion or garlic family (can't remember) The chopped green tops are what are commonly used. In the stores I've only seen them dried in jars in the spice department. I grow my own. In old yards or gardens they are usually wild and grow like gangbusters!
