A girl I know has tested positive for HSV2 (genital herpes) and she also works as an escort. She has taken the IgG test and is claiming the results of that test has pinpointed her infection date to within the last 6-8 weeks. Is there any health professional out there that can confirm this fact? All my information states that she could have contracted this virus at any time. My biggest concerns are that she is continuing to work as an escort and she is only contacting the people she has seen in the last 6-8 weeks. Please cite any references to substantiate answers. Thanks

The IgG test is looking for antibodies in the blood to HSV-2. It does take time for the antibodies to develop following the first infection with the virus. I do not know if it 6-8wks, I am assuming that this is what the doctor told her. It is possible that she was negative previously. Example: a woman presents with her first outbreak of genital herpes. culture of the genital blisters confirms the presence of herpes, but her blood test does not show any IgG antibodies yet, but will in the future. So, if your friend was known to be negative HSV-2 IgG around 6-8 wks ago and now is positive it is a recent infection. I would be wary of using her services. most herpes infections are transmitted when no lesions are present and condoms do not protect from herpes.

lol, Are you serious? Either you or she is full of it. If you got herpes, you know about it, don't let anyone tell you differently. The initial infection is extremely painful and will need medical attention. Your friend needs to change her life, she will surely end up HIV+.

theres is no way of telling how long she has had it. chances are you may also have it now. i would report her to the health dept. cause then she has to list everyone she has slept with and they will send out letters telling them that she has the virus. and there is no cure for this virus. if i was you i would get tested asap.
