Tam's, oh how I miss you! They're a local burger joint where I lived in California but now I live in Florida and the standard California greasy burger joint is non-existent. They had the best breakfast burritos, fries and burgers and chili cheese fries (they'll even pile pastrami on top if you ask for it). You could get a 1/4 pound burger, fries and a drink for about $3 and it was a LOT of food and they were open from 6 am to 2 am. How I wish I could fly out there just for a day to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Aside from them I loved Jack in the Box but I don't believe there are any locations east of Texas, at least that's the last place I saw them when we moved over here. The best is a Jumbo Jack with curly fries and you pour the buttermilk house dressing on the burger as you eat it. Their salads are pretty good too.

Favorite breakfast in my mother's house in Canada 50 years ago, especially Christmas morning, and our family's favorite breakfast today in Mexico City, especially Christmas morning:
home-made pancakes with butter and REAL maple syrup
big fat breakfast sausages
Canadian bacon
several slices of strong Canadian cheddar cheese

My mother would make farina (Cream of Wheat) with milk, egg yolks and sugar. Then all of us kids would put our favorite canned fruit on top. I liked canned plums the tartness of the plums and plum juice contrasted with the warm creaminess of the farina. When I think of this I think of the winter holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas it makes me warm inside. The other would have to be Cocoa Krispies, I feel like a kid in front of the TV on Saturday morning.
