I would guess that you didn't have physical relationships with another person, didn't have herpes before you were with him and now after you have been with him you have herpes.

Well, I'm not sure by your question whether you think you already have herpes or you're worried for precaution?
First of all, I don't care how hard it is, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ASK YOUR NEW PARTNER FOR A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH!
This is your life and health we're talking about so under no circumstances you should take it lightly.
If you haven't had sex with anyone else and you think you have herpes, then yes, it's from him. You can use medicine such as Valtrex, which reduce the symptoms and frequency of the breakouts.
If you're wondering what herpes looks like, they are painful open sores, which appear around your genitalia.
If you have doubts about your health just go to a gyno or if you don't have health insurance visit a Planned Parenthood clinic.
Good luck.

Genital herpes are painful open sores. Sometimes they are not visible in females because it settled inside the vagina. Get your annual pelvic and get checked for STDs.If he gave you herpes, he would be infected also and during breakouts, it will be obvious. I hope you were not infected.

If you have been with nobody else then more than likely this how you obtained it. Be sure to tell his name to your doctor or physician who has confirmed your case so that his name is added to the list for centers of disease control. That way if he gives it to anybody else and is not upfront about it he can get into alot of trouble. Good luck

He'd have to have a blood test to see if he has the virus in his system.
it's possible that the virus may have been dormant in your system--I don't know your s/history, but you can have herpes without any flare ups.
I used to work with nurses, they'd sit around and tell stories when work got slow and I learned a TON from them!
