I know that Kosher turkeys do not need to be brined. Does the same hold true for Halal turkeys? This is the first thanksgiving I am cooking, and I'd like to make the best turkey possible!

If the turkey is not already brined then you can. ( I am not exactly sure what Halal is so please forgive me if I make a blunder, I just like to cook and we all like to eat) For a turkey that is up to fourteen pounds take 2 Cups of table salt and dissolve it into two gallons of water, you can also some peppercorns and some herbs if you wish, add your turkey, take it to the fridge and lit it chill for about 4 hours, when time is up dump water, rinse the turkey and pat it dry. I also ley it sit uncoverd in the fridge overnight so the skin can crisp up when it is baked. Have a great dinner!!

To the best of my limitied knowledge, a Halal Turkey is just slaughtered per Muslim tradition, but is not pre-brined like a Kosher Turkey.

Based upon that, I would brine the Halal Turkey.

Can you call the place where you got the turkey and ask, since Muslims will use Kosher foods if they can't find Halal?
