It's not a question of time, but of internal temperature. Be sure the thickest part of the turkey (usually the thigh) is at a temperature of 165 - 180 F. Lower temperatures can mean the meat is not fully cooked, and under-cooked poultry is a health hazard. An unstuffed bird of 17 pounds takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to reach that temperature; a stuffed bird requires 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Happy Thanksgiving!

You should cook the turkey for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours at 350 to 375 degrees depending on whether you have a gas oven or electric......I noticed no one told you the temperature.....at least you know what the temperature of the bird needs to be.

Most turkeys have a pop up timer on them, just cook it until the timer comes out.

You need to put it on the night before on low heat. Cook threw the night and probably till about noonish the next day.

If the bird is stuffed, 30 minutes a pound, if it is not stuffed, 20 minutes a pound. Most birds today have the built-it "popper" that pops out when its done. Enjoy!!

go to www.foodnetwork.com . they have a turkey calculator ! you put in how many lbs. your turkey is, whether is a frozen, fresh, stuffed or unstuffed. it asks you what time you want to have dinner. it then then tells you how long to cook it, and what time to put it in the oven. good luck
