Hi Nikhil,
Since your category is Diabetes it is evident that you must be having this also.
More than 75% diabetic patients get hypertension developed within 2 year of onset.

There are some questions you have to answer before getting your answer.
134, is it a systolic or diastolic BP.

If it is systolic then it is absolutely normal as per Indian standards but you have to take certain precautions that it may not grow further.

If your diastolic BP is 134 then you should be in a hospital bed and not at home.

Further you have to answer
1. What is your age?
2. Are you obese?
3. For how long you are suffering from Diabetes?
4. Any family history of diabetes or hypertension?
5. What is the current status of your blood glucose level?

A one hour morning walk is really helpful for both diabetes and hypertension. Make it a habit my dear.
Cheer up always as sedentary lifestyle can lead you to both diabetes and hypertension.
Monitor you BP regularly because it may rise further.
Quit smoking and alcohol.

The test you should undergo is,
A basic hypertension profile, i.e.
1. Lipid profile
2. Serum electrolytes
3. Kidney function test
4. Urine for routine and microscopy. and
5. A chest x ray

But I suggest getting in touch of your doctor and letting him advise the test for you if required, because he is the best judge in your case. And of course if you get your tests done you still need him as a interpreter of the results.

Best of luck and have lots of walking.

The present approach to blood pressure (BP) is to purchase a home unit and record your BP within 30 minutes of awakening. If you are > 125/075 on most occasions I would email (I have folks send me their BP readings and other medical questions via email) the readings to your physician. As 'safer' and more effective medications have become available we have lower BP goals. It is clear that home readings are preferred for both the diagnosis and treatment of BP rather than office readings.

You haven't mentioned your age which has some relevance to this question. If you are otherwise healthy and have not had any definite illness like renal disease in the past then change your diet and lifestyle.Cut down on salted food, pickles etc. get plenty of exercise and get your bp rechecked . If this doesn't work then you may have to be started on drugs.

What do you mean by that - is it Diastolic or Systolic BP. Which reading are you provinding. No one can answer like this to your insufficient data question. THIS IS A WRONG THEORY. ONE should not provide half info and try to get answers to your inadequate querries. SORRY !!!!!!!!
