Its takes a while to be yourself again. Some people are doing great within weeks while others take months. A lot depends on pain tolerance and willingness to do rehab and exercises as ordered. If you do not do your rehab it will take much longer and your are much more likely to develop complications such as pneumonia. It would be very helpful to have someone around for a few weeks to assist you.

If would help to know what will actually be done but at present heart surgery has a quick recovery time. The hospital stay is generally brief and when you go home you will be able to take care of yourself reasonably well but it would be wise to have someone either there or checking up on you for a few weeks. Most surgeons ask you not to drive or work for 4 weeks. Any advice depends upon the procedure and other health conditions but in general the post surgery course is an uncomplicated one.

First off good luck with your surgery. Every persons recovery time is different so you should ask your doctor about your situation. Yes you will need help for a time. For the first few days after your release from the hospital you will need quite a lot of help. After that it will become less and less each day. Again gage how much you can do with the help of your doctor. Do not do too much and if you feel tired stop. You are having major surgery and need to let your body tell you what it is ready for.

For some reason, this scenario sounds familiar. Lord, I come to You now, asking that you be with the nephew, the mother, and this entire family. Show them mercy and love. I pray his child survives. All in accordance with Thy Will. In Jesus' Name, thank You, Father. Amen. † Comforting Prayer Warrior †
