the normal count of WBC in blood is 4000-11000 cells/cumm.Myson who is 25 years old was having WBC count as 11350/cumm when his boold was tested while he was having cough & cold with heavy chest infection .His ESR count is 26mm/hr.the normal count of ESR -is 5-15 mm/hr.hewas having slight wheezing too then ..what does the slight increased count of WBC denote .that is 11350 cells /cumm.when the normal count is 4000-11000

Sounds like he is trying to fight off an infection of some sort. Not sure what, need a differential WBC.

The increased white blood cells indicate an infection. He may have an infection associated with his cough etc..This could be pneumonia. Usually the treatment is a Z-Pak (Antibiotic). You normally have between (4) 4000 and (11) 11000 to help your body fight off infection. When it gets higher it indicates that the body is making more white blood cells to go after the infection.
