The main staples of a vegan diet are plant based. Think vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains, etc. A vegan diet can be the healthiest thing you ever do for your body, just remember to stay away from all of the processed vegan food (the fake cheese, the fake meat, etc) if possible. It is very unhealthy, and should only be used on rare occasion. As stated by another user, burritos are a great vegan staple! For lunch today, I had a greek salad with whole wheat cous cous. The day before I had two baby artichokes and pita bread with hummus. Some ideas: -Lentil loaf (instead of meatlof) -Black bean or Portabella mushroom burgers (instead of traditional burgers) -Salads (possibilities are obviously endless) -Pasta is always your friend (just eat too much!) Make sure to add a lot of beans and whole grains to your diet for protein and fulfillment!

bread, vegetables, fruits, and....that's it! Lol. I use to be a vegetarian but saw it make u very unhealthy, I actually was anorexic for awhile until I got healthy again. I had to see a doctor almost every other day, I got so sick and it became really dangerous to my health. I was in a hospital for 3 weeks at one point wen it got really bad. My eating habits were terrible because there was very little I could eat. I didn't like meat, and I didn't like vegetables or fruit even tho that does seem very strange for a VEG-etarian not to like VEG-etables but it was true. I finally gave all that up tho and became healthy again and now am very healthy and have a great weight and everything. I don't recomend u becoming vegan but if u can do it, do it!

A vegan avoid using or consuming animal products. While vegetarians choose not to use flesh foods, vegans also avoid dairy and eggs, as well as fur, leather, wool, down, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals. Its a lifestyle change not just about the food you eat. To the eprson who said she is vegan and eats eggs: then your not a true vegan. Anyways here is a site to help you out:

one thing i have noticed with noobs and vegetarianism or veganism is that they fail to eat enough protiens. heres an excerpt i found on the web:
For example, if part of a day's menu included the following foods, you would meet the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein for an adult male: 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup soy milk, 2 slices whole wheat bread, 1 bagel, 2 Tablespoons peanut butter, 1 cup vegetarian baked beans, 5 ounces tofu, 2 Tablespoons of almonds, 1 cup broccoli, and 1 cup brown rice.

Vegan means to avoid any animal products & byproducts.
This includes honey, eggs, milkproducts, gelatine, some cookies made with animal fat etc.
Vegans generally also avoid any animal products in their household and clothing, hence, no leather etc.
I personally eat whatever one would like to eat in it's natural (uncooked & unspiced) condition and in an amount that would be naturally available, hence, I am not vegan as I very rarely have milk products, honey or eggs.

All vegetables and fruits. That would include tofu.
Sources of Protein in a Vegan Diet
Whole grains (eg. whole wheat flour, bread and pasta, brown rice, oats, rye), nuts (eg. hazels, cashews, brazils, almonds), seeds (sunflower, sesame, pumpkin), legumes/pulses (peas, beans, lentils), soy products (flour, soy milk, tofu, tempeh).
