I am rarely shocked or moved by anything...but I saw this video called "Meet your meat". It was so horrible to see what animals go through at the slaughter house. I know that they kill animals there, but they seem to also torture them too. Some cows have huge gaping sores all over yet they are still considered grade A beef. They pump chickens full of hormones so they are eventually too fat to even stand then they have heart attacks from all the weight, yet people are eating them.
I really suggest you check the video out. I think it might be on the PETA site.

I'm not a strict vegetarian. I eat free range stuff sometimes. When I'm at someone's house, I don't turn down whatever they are offering me. But I try to avoid meat, and here's why.
Meat is among the most unnaturally produced food products you can imagine. They use unnatural hormones to make cows grow bigger faster. Animals are regular cannibalized in factory farming.
I have nothing against the old-style family farms, that sustainably raised animals for slaughter, but the factory farms I find to creepy to possibly be healthful.

I simply believe that the human's natural food is what we would like to eat in its raw & natural condition.
Funny that it is clear what dogs, rabbits, cows etc. eat, but when it comes to the human, this always causes long discussions...
Think yourself in a desert without tools & fire and you find those:
- rabbits (running around)
- a pond with carp fish
- a camel
- a horse
- some chicken
- a goat
- a banana tree with bananas
- dates
- figs
- avocadoes
- sweet potatoes
- carrots
- celeriac (whole plants)
- wheat grain (u have water & can let those sprout - takes 3 days)
- apricots
- fresh chick peas (taste similar to fresh garden peas)
Now put these in a list of priority - which would you eat first and which last - & you have the answer! (remember, you don't have any fire or specific tools, nor salt, sugar or spices, but water & u can use stones etc - just in case u feel like smashing some of the animal's heads ...)

I just recently stopped eating meat because I woke up one morning and couldn't stand the smell or taste any more. I have no idea of what caused me to change overnight (literally), but that's what happened.
Age? Hormones? Alien abduction in the night? Wish I knew!

Some are motivated by thier beliefs that killing animals to eat them is cruel
Some are motivated to be more healthy
Otherwise, you have no other motivation unless of course, you just don't like meat

While seeing meat, you have to think about that animal (or that living thing) is also having pain.
Also think that it is also like me. See from your heart; it had a family... with mother, father, brother, sister and lover... It had fun with its family.
Think, without meat you can live.
Just for a taste, killing other living thing is a right way? Don’t compromise yourself that you are getting proteins, vitamins etc. from meat. You can get those vitamins and minerals from vegetables also.
You have sixth sense. You can understand others feelings.
(please dont take this as a joke, we need to think practically....)
Please don’t forget, in this world no god said to hurt other living thing. God says 'Love all the living things' because 'Love is god'.
Simply saying you have to think about....humanism. Keep on remaining your self that you are a human being.
Be proud to be a vegetarian, fill your heart with Love. Live with peace of mind.
(Please excuse me if my English is poor)

In order to minimalize the amount of suffering I incur in the world.
I am aware that by merely existing, I will incur suffering, so I choose to minimalize it as most I can by choosing to live my life with that goal.
As far as I know, if it doesn't have a central nervous system, it can't feel pain.
Thus, I don't eat anything with a central nervous system.

I'm not in it for animal rights, they're just going to eat each other anyway.
I'm in it because of health reasons (and it smells funny) though I -would- like to eat meat.
