Is it possible to get your confidence back after getting hepres? I feel like ****, I don't even want to go out anymore and I'm terrified of meeting someone. I don't feel right, and I feel like I'm changed forever. I just want to feel good again.

Personal experiences only please.

I dont have herpes but I know someone who does. At first he was destroyed emotionally but now he controls it with medication and knows how to predict outbreaks. Herpes is so common and alot of people have it. You can live a normal life with herpes. This man I speak of hid it from his girlfriend for 7 years. He would disappear for months at a time and she always wondered why. When he finally told her the reason (he was having an outbreak) she didnt leave him, they are still together and enjoy a healthy sex life. Although it is highly contagious there are ways to get around that.
Another thing is that if you are single, try meeting someone in a herpes chat room. This sounds awful I know but not all people with herpes are bad people that sleep around. Im sure you can find some really nice people if you look. That way you dont have to go through trying to explain how you got herpes.Good luck.

I understand where you are coming from, however, there is no reason at all on why you should limit your life experiences just because you have Herpes. First of all, I'm so sick of everyone saying how horrible, awful, disgusting, and whatever else term you may wish to throw in here about the negative parts of Herpes. Do you think we woke up and said, hmmmmm, yeah I think I want a STD today, please make that happen for me. No One wants this, and it's HIGHLY COMMON!!! People don't admit it to others, you'd be surprized on who all that has it!!! All it does is suck. It sucks to have it because you can't get rid of it, and some times you have a inconvience break out. However, that doesn't change you as a person. Don't think just because you have herpes you are a diease too, because you are not, it's just a part of your life now. Herpes doesn't kill you, it just annoys you for a little while. Once you find someone you are intersted in, take things slow, get to know her, let her get to know you, build a trusting relationships with her, then when you two decied to be intamite gently let her know you have it. She'll make a choice that's right for her. Or you could go the other route, never tell. Simple as that, just always always protect yourself and keep up with either medicine or a natural remedy (which I use). Personally I haven't had to tell anyone yet, so I don't know how to ease you in that converstation. However, I take 3 500 mg. of L-Lysine a day and ever since I started doing that 3 years ago I've never had an outbreak. Don't let this get you down, it's nothing to be down about, your dating game has changed a little Thats ALL!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

Relax, herpes in not the end of the world. there are many people in this world who live happy fulfilled lives having herpes. The more you stress out about it the more outbreaks you'll get.
My husband and I both have herpes and we simply abstain from having sex during an outbreak. It happens "very rarely" because we don't stress out about it as much as we used to...
Unfortunately there are many many people who have herpes and are completely unaware of it (as I was for many years until I had an outbreak)
BTW this is not something you need to discuss with someone unless you are in a serious dating situation. I hope this helps. Please know that this doesn't make you less of a person. It certainly wouldn't stop me from loving you ....

Why do people act so retarded you ask first l would say that actually puts people who are retarded down as they wouldnt stink as low as some of these imature idiots. The fact is1 in 8 people have it and pehaps thses imature idiots should go and look at the site www.thefacts.com.au
and they might reliase they are at risk too. Stress less and in time you might move on and meet others in the same situation join a support group and get out there . Herpes is one of the less serious stds compared to the other h virsus like hiv

From what I hear it (herpes) is common. You have to love yourself and from there you will be fine. Pray and don't trust anyone you need to be protected. The outbreaks come on more from stress I heard so try to relax.

Just remember how you got it and do not pass it on to others that is the big thing. If you do meet someone and have sex make sure they know and you take every precaution necessary before you do. You will do fine if you do not take chances and subject anyone else to this.
