I understand what you are going through - I also fight yeast infections constantly and used to get about one a month, right around my period. My doctor tested me for hyperglycemia and diabetes - increased blood sugar can feed yeast infections (as can any sugar). I would have your doctor do that for you.
In my case, I am not diabetic - just yeast infection prone. Lots of things can trigger them - sex, certain types of condom, too much sugar in my diet, messing up my birth control pills, and more. I control it by being careful about all those things, and also by 1-2 yogurts a day (make sure it has live active cultures) and taking acidophilus, an OTC vitamin similar to yogurt. (And the occasional Monistat - I'm down to one about 1 every six months. Another tip - use the 7 day - it's more of a pain but MUCH more effective and cheaper)
Also - do you take a lot of antacids? Stomach acid helps control yeast - and atacids eliminate stomach acid. I have stomach problems and have to be careful how many antacids I take, or yeast will flare up.
It is very important you confirm with a doctor that you are suffering from yeast infections, and not another medical problem/STD/etc.
Good luck!

The problem with self-treating is that you could be misdiagnosing yourself. If you don't actually have a yeast infection, and instead have bacterial vaginosis, the antifungal medication you're using (the monistat) could be creating a resistant strain of yeast in your vagina. Then, when you really do get a yeast infection, you'll have to take some serious antifungal drugs for a much longer period of time to cure it - costing you even more than you could imagine.
If you have a tendency towards yeast infections, you should try eating yogurt every day. I'm not 100% sure why it works, but it's really helped me prevent recurring yeast infections. I've also heard that you can take acidophilus capsules, but I haven't tried that. In the meantime, you should definitely go to the doctor, to be sure that you actually have a yeast infection. You could be causing more harm than good by self-medicating.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:
https://bitly.im/aMCQH
Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Well, there is something wrong if you are getting a yeast infection every month before your period. Yes, Monostat isn't cheap, but then no one expects you to need it every month. You may want to go to another doctor. If you can't afford it, contact your local department of health. They'll get you seen to do other tests. In the meantime, try eating 2 cups of yogurt a day. That will help put GOOD bacteria (yogurt cultures) in your body. Might lessen the yeast infections.

if you dont know if its a yeast infection then it could be an STD or some other type of infection and thats why you should see a dr. if you know its one (like i ususally get mine after menstrating but i know its a yeast infection) then just treat it yourself.
there could be some underlying problem tho, and you really should have that checked out. they can even do a test to see if it a yeast infection (i did that once cause there was some pinkness and i got worried it was something else) but if you use monistat, then they cannot be sure because you're killing everything there. and in all honesty, you shouldnt be getting them that frequently, there is probably an imballance

I dont know about any harm you can do to your body but I do know that the over the counter medication like monistat sometimes does not cure some strains of yeast. That is why you should see your doctor. He can prescribe something better that is more likely to cure all strains of yeast.

For the first infection you need to see the dr but after that it is fine to buy over the counter. But you could have a really bad one that won't go away without prescription so that is why it is always there. You should see the dr.

Instead of buying Monistat, you should purchase AZO. Take a pill everyday and drink a lot of fluids. Yogurt is the best, but if you start taking AZO you should clear up the problem. It worked for me. Good luck.
