My husband has been hearing his pulse in his ears for about four months. We went to two doctors that says its a benign condition now worries. They both took time with him and checked him over and one found a murmur and said it was nothing to worry about ,I ask and they said no test needed. We both ask if everything was ok.They said heart was good ,lungs were good and blood pressure was good. They said that we both had post tramatic stress. He worries all the time .He doesn;t do the thing he used to do and he thinks that he has a problem with his heart since he was told that he had a mumur. He is always worried that he is going to have a heart attack because he has a murmur. He always says he feels this and that and I keep telling him the doctor said there was nothing wrong other than the PTSD.He is on meds and goes to therapy but I don't want him to feel scared. What can I do?

The easiest way for most men to understand a murmur, especially if they are mechanical in nature anyway, is to ask them to think about how much noise a pump makes when it's working as usual. While some murmurs are indicators of a problem, most are just the noise of a pump at work- your heart is nothing but an organic pump after all. Some murmurs come and go, one doctor hears it and another one doesn't, because there is't anything to hear when he listens. In the absence of any other problems, that's what he likely has, a noisy pump.
Post traumatic stress is a normal reaction to an abnormal and highly stressful situation. It is not a mental illness in the usual sense, and if you expect to recover you do. The key to recovery is to restore a normal life as much as possible as soon as possible. The most important things for a man would be to go back to work, whatever he did before, and back to enjoying whatever activities he had before. It may take a bit of pushing on your part to get him moving in the right direction, and it might be easier if you simply started and dragged him along. You can also take the opportunity to explore new activities, pick up new hobbies, or rediscover an old one you or he used to enjoy. As silly as it sounds, maybe you could take dance lessons. Ballroom dancing is good exercise for a heart, and good therapy for a married couple in general. It can be fun and relaxing, you would get out of the house, and meet new people. Act like you expect him to improve, tell him you expect things and him to get better and don't let him just sit and mope. Look for the positive, compliment his efforts and ignore the negative. Encourage him to try, but don't nag if he doesn't do a lot at first. It's a slow process, but as long as you can get him started moving, he will recover.

A murmur is simply being able to hear blood flow. It does not mean that there is an impending heart attack around the corner. It sounds like he has a great deal of anxiety along with the PTSD, which would explain why he is freaking out despite doctors telling him he is ok. In fact, you sound like you are anxious and stressed yourself, which is not going to help. My guess is that this is a case of some sort of anxiety disorder rather that PTSD. If you don't want him to be scared, then don't contribute by enabling his anxiety. The basic problem has nothing to do with the heart in all probability, rather the anxiety.

It could be due to hipertension. If not it is the sort of untraceable feeling that only he gets.

For that, let him try this exercise. Hold the nose with his fingers by which no air enters his nose. Blow air from inwards so he will feel heavy inside the throat and ears, hold like that for a minute and redo it. It will activate aomd vain that is partly not functioning and he will not hear his pulse. There is no time limit or prescribed timings.

While your gets blocked (due to high altitude) when you fly in a plane, you can do it to release the tnsion inside the ear area and you will listen properly.
